Corvette Designer Sought to put Distance Between C6 and C7 Corvette

The 2014 Corvette Stingray made its West Coast debut at the big 60th Anniversary Corvette Celebration at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles a couple of weekends ago, and there for the occasion were several Corvette notables, including designer Kirk Bennion.

Bennion took a few moments to talk with a reporter from the L.A. Times to discuss his efforts on what is just the seventh generation of the 60-year-old sports car.

With Corvette Chief Engineer beginning his discussion about the next generation car, Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles and Corvette Assembly Plant Manager Dave Tatman pulled the cover off the Cyber Gray Corvette Stingray Coupe to a huge round of applause (and a few tears) from the enthusiasts in the crowd.

Corvettes on Ebay: 1971 Corvette Coupe with 522,000 miles

Sometimes it seems like every for sale ad you read has “low miles” written in it somewhere. That’s not the case with this 1971 Corvette coupe currently listed on Ebay. It’s spent the last 42 years with the same southern California owner and has logged a total of 522,000 miles since it was born. That’s basically the equivalent of a roundtrip visit to the moon.

At the end of every production year, the Bowling Green Assembly Plant posts a list of “Options Penetration” showing how many of each type of Corvette, color and options were built so that new Corvette owners could try to figure out how rare their car may be.

Even though that list isn’t out yet, we do have some preliminary data that we would like to share as part of our farewell to the C6 Corvette!
