Corvette Stingray Wins Business Insider's Inaugural Car of the Year Award

The new Corvette Stingray has captured a lot of awards since Chevrolet introduced it in 2013.

But here comes a first. The 2015 Stingray has just captured an award that no other Corvette – well, no other car ever, for that matter – has won because it’s the first time Business Insider has named a Car of the Year.

NADA Report: 2014 Corvette Stingray Retains Nearly 85 Percent of MSRP Value

As if the exotic styling, powerhouse performance, and impressive interior weren’t enough to convince you to buy a new Corvette Stingray, here’s another more practical reason.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe 1LT Automatic finished No. 1 for retaining the most value among all-new or heavily revised 2014 Model Year mainstream vehicles.

That’s the word from NADA Used Car Guide analysts in their final vehicle retention value report for 2014.

And it wasn’t even close.

New C7 Corvette Embroidered Mats from Corvette America

Lloyd Mat’s luxurious and durable Ultimats from Corvette America are made just for the C7 Corvette with a precise custom fit, factory-compatible anchors and your choice of embroidered C7 or Stingray logos.

Ultimats are about twice the weight and density of OE mats with 32 ounces per yard of premium, two-ply nylon yarn and a 5/16” pile height for very long wear and an added level of comfort. They also provide greater coverage and protection than factory mats with precise, computer-controlled cutting and a multi-layer backing for greater stiffness and moisture resistance.

Choose from a variety of C7 or Stingray logo and script combinations and add a new level of style and comfort to your interior. See the embroidered logo choices at CorvetteAmerica.com.

I spent a few minutes last night listening to a video of a 2015 Corvette Z06 roar down the street. My son Chris was even more fortunate – he saw a red Z06 “live” going through the drive-through at the local Bojangle’s a few days ago.

There may not be a more exciting sound these days to the ears of a Corvette enthusiast.

Sadly, though, the owner of a new Z06, known on Corvette Forum as “Lawdogg 149,” recently heard a much sadder sound after he says he had properly broken in his supercar, getting ready for an event at Road Atlanta Jan. 10-11.

1956 Corvette SR-2 Racer Offered For Sale

One of the most famous Corvettes of all time is being offered for the first time ever to the general public. The noted 1956 SR-2 is being made available through Corvette Mike. The car started life as VIN #2522 and went straight to the GM Styling Studio from the St. Louis plant under Shop Order 90090. There, under the watchful eyes of Harley Earl and Zora Arkus Duntov it began its transformation into the car we know today.

A total of 3 1956 SR-2 Corvettes were built. This VIN 2522 was the first. The 2nd one was built for Bill Mitchell, and the 3rd – a show car – went to GM President Red Curtice.

[VIDEO] CorvetteBlogger Visits the Ron Fellows Driving School at Spring Mountain

This year was pretty remarkable for us here at CorvetteBlogger. Not only do we get to talk and write everyday about America’s favorite sports car – the Chevrolet Corvette – but occasionally we get to drive the new Corvettes on a race track as well!

After having the unique opportunity to drive a 2015 Corvette Stingray on GM’s Milford Road Course earlier in the year, I realized my skill level at driving the Corvette fast on the track was not something I was real comfortable with, so I took up an offer to attend a two-day Level 1 driving course at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada.
