America’s best vs. Japan’s best – the rear-wheel-drive, manually shifted, 505-hp 2012 Corvette Z06 Centennial Edition against Nissan’s high-tech, twin-turbo, 545-hp 2013 Nissan GT-R Premium.

That’s what the folks at Edmund’s insideline.com carried to the battlefield recently, with the same results as World War II this time around. Score one for the good ol’ USA.

1969 L88 Corvette Roadster Sells for $610,000 at Mecum's 2012 Kissimmee Auction

With so much going on in Kissimmee last weekend with the NCRS Regional and the Mecum collector car auction going on simultaneously, it was hard to be in two places at one time. After putting in a full day at the NCRS Regional, I arrived at the Mecum auction early Friday evening and as I walked into the front entrance, I heard the gavel fall as the auctioneer yelled “SOLD SOLD SOLD – $610,000″. I knew right away I had just missed the sale of this 1969 L88 Corvette Roadster.

That’s why we appreciate the raffle coming up this Thursday that’s for us “regular Joes” who can afford to lay down $10 for the opportunity to help the museum and maybe win a brand new 2012 Corvette Coupe!

by Mitch Talley on January 24, 2012

1971 Corvette LS9 Engine Swap

Perhaps it’s only appropriate that a modern-day ZR1 Corvette engine would be placed in the original body style that started the ZR-1 (yes, with a hyphen back then) craze way back in 1970.

We first told you about this monster of a 1971 Corvette in July 2011, and now our friends at High Tech Corvette have put together a video that shows just what the modern LS9 ZR1 engine can do when planted in a 1971 Corvette. The LS9 even peeks out from under the hood through a clear opening that marks the C6 ZR1s.
