In the final episode of Corvette Racing’s 2011 Tech Transfer segments which air during the ALMS race telecasts, Corvette Racing’s Doug Fehan talks about enhancements to the 2012 Corvette ZR1. From the performance package featuring the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires and lightweight cup wheels to Performance Traction Management Control, the Corvette ZR1 is the tip of the technological spear that represents the partnership between racing and production.

If you’re in the market for a toy that’s not a Corvette then have we got a boat for you! This 48 foot monster assembled by Marine Technology, Inc. is currently up for sale. The all-black vessel has ZR1 design cues throughout including the dash, steering wheel, and even a shifter. Outside there are ZR1 style front fender vents, tailights, and headlights. Oh, and don’t forget the 2 Mercury 1,350hp twin turbo racing motors that provide motiviation. Yep, that’s a total of 2,700hp or 4.2 real ZR1′s. We got the new monthly sales figures for September this week and Corvette sales have rebounded from the 936 deliveries made in August to 1,147 Corvettes delivered in September. Corvette sales saw a 3.4% increase over September 2010′s sales which totaled 1,109. For the year to date calendar, Corvette sales are pacing at 4.8% higher than 2010 as well.
A huge crash on the famous Nurburgring over the weekend collected eight cars including a “rented” Corvette Z06. The accident occurred on the portion of the ‘ring known as the “Bergwerk” section and from various reports, we believe the cause was likely due to a construction zone that failed to give drivers enough warning to slow down. Regardless, the accident left seven of eight cars undrivable and one of the drivers in critical condition.
IntelliChoice and AutoPacific have once again teamed up for their sixth annual Motorist Choice Awards which recognize vehicles that deliver a combination of high consumer satisfaction and lower-than-expected ownership costs. Vehicles are categorized into a collection of 15 popular lifestyle segment categories and the Chevrolet Corvette was chosen the “popular” winner of the Performance category.

A couple months back we had the opportunity to tour the immense car collection of Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The diverse collection contains about 150 stunning muscle cars, exotics, classics, as well as several of LPE’s latest creations. No car collection is complete without a healthy dose of America’s sports car, and this one is no different. Roughly 40% of the grouping consists of Corvettes including some very rare ones. Charlie’s Angels is the latest show from the Seventies that’s getting a reboot for the upcoming fall television schedule on ABC. The premise is similar to the original series which features three young beautiful women with various skills who solve crimes for their mysterious benefactor Charlie Townsend. We are bringing this up as we caught a commercial for this Thursday’s series premiere and the show features one of the cast members driving a Corvette ZR1 like she stole it!
The doors opened today in Frankfurt, Germany for the 64th International Motor Show and the halo car of the Chevrolet brand is well represented. Celebrating its 100 year anniversary, Chevy’s display offers a glimpse of past, present and future models in the Chevrolet lineup.
