I was perusing the web late last week when I came upon this beautifully customized Corvette Grand Sport from The Corvette Guys at Purifoy Chevrolet in Fort Lupton, Colorado. Each year, Purifoy takes 3 or 4 Corvettes out of their general dealer stock and transforms them into unique, custom creations. This 2012 Grand Sport was dressed up and put on display at the Greybeard Creme de la Chrome car show at the Denver Convention Center.
When it comes to storing a Corvette or any other car over the winter or other long stretch of time there are a number of options available. Ask 5 different people which method is best and you’ll likely get 5 different responses. This how we store our cars in the CorvetteBlogger garage.
Santa and Mrs. Claus took some time off their preparations for this year’s Christmas celebration by stopping by the National Corvette Museum’s annual Breakfast with Santa last Saturday in Bowling Green. As you can see, St Nick arrived in style, driving the 15th Anniversary NCM 2010 Corvette Grand Sport.
New Corvette sales continue to slide according to the latest General Motors delivery report. Deliveries for November 2011 fell to 910 for the month. Its the third consecutive drop in sales and three out of the last four months have failed to break the 1,000 unit mark. It looks a little better on paper as in November 2010 only had 836 deliveries so the month saw an increase of 8.9%. For the calendar year to date, Chevy has sold 12,126 Corvettes, an 4.1% increase over 2010.
General Motors has celebrated a major milestone today at Wixom’s Performance Build Center by building its 100-millionth small block engine. The engine chosen as the milestone motor is none other than the Corvette ZR1′s 638 horsepower LS9. Since 1955, the small block has been used in GM vehicles around the world and can also be found marine and industrial applications as well.
Autocrossing your Corvette is great way to have some fun in your car in a safe and controlled environment. Most courses are laid out to keep speeds down and drivers rely on technique to complete the course. But just because speeds are lower than other track events doesn’t mean that one wrong move can come back to bite you as one Corvette driver found out at the Speed Ventures autocross event.
Apparently this video went viral while I was incommunicado over the Thanksgiving holiday. Two Silver Corvettes, a C6 and C5, were lined up at a stop light in the Houston neighborhood of The Woodlands. The motorist behind the duo gets a bad feeling about what is going to happen when the lights go green and starts filming. Sure enough, the race ends badly for both drivers and cars and now police have issued warrants for their arrest.

When it comes to the Corvette, custom looks can range from subtly menacing to downright gaudy. Fortunately companies like SS Vette fall firmly in the former category. As a result, even in this topsy-turvy economy, the company remains strong with an ever-expanding catalog of Vette parts and a presence at this year’s SEMA show.
