C6 Corvette

Five Days and 1,500 Miles in the 2013 Corvette ZR1 Pace Car

If there’s ever been a dream job for a Corvette fanatic, Dr. Jamie Meyer just punched the clock.

He had the honor of driving the actual Corvette ZR1 pace car that was used in this year’s Indy 500 on a 1500-mile segment of the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, a seven-day, seven-city traveling car show that went from GM’s Milford Proving Grounds to Arlington, Texas.

July 2012 Corvette Sales

General Motors released the July 2012 sales report this week and the data shows 987 Corvettes were delivered during the month. This is a huge decline from June 2012 where 1,475 Corvettes found new homes, however it was somewhat expected with the extended July shutdown at the assembly plant.

Comparing July 2012 sales to July 2011′s number of 1,291 Corvettes sold, deliveries are off a whopping -23.5%. For the calendar year to date, a total of 8,009 Corvettes have been sold which is pacing -2.2% off of 2011′s CYTD 8,187 sales figure.

We already knew that the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green would be suspending public tours of the facility on September 14th. Now we got word that the Buyers Tour and the custom Photo Book options have closed as well.

Corvette's Signature Design Cues Prevail Over 60 Year History

With the seventh generation of the Chevrolet Corvette just months away, it’s a good time to take a look at just what makes a Corvette look like a Corvette.

For example, it’s been 60 years since the XP-122 Motorama concept car took the public by storm in 1952, leading to the 1953 debut model, but you can instantly tell it’s a Corvette just as much as the latest 2013 427 Collector Edition convertible.

Tom Peters, GM performance vehicle design director, says each generation of Corvette shares some common elements which create a consistent Corvette theme that is expressive, distinctly American, artful, and passionate.

Two English Gents Show How to Cook with a Corvette V8 Engine

We’ve all heard of having fun with our Corvette, but a recent video from recombu.com’s Joyride with Rory Reid features the host and his pal, English actor/comedian Robert Llewellyn, definitely taking that idea and spinning it off in a different direction.

The two gents used a Corvette C6 convertible for what some might term a “car-b-que” in the English countryside and captured the entire unique experience on video.

[VIDEO] Mystery Car Taunts a Corvette Z06

[VIDEO] Mystery Car Taunts a Corvette Z06

This video shows a Corvette C6 Z06 (as well as a yellow C5 caught in the crossfire) having to play catch-up for the most part with a mystery car that some viewers believe to be a Nissan GT-R.

No matter what kind of car it is that was doing the filming, it was just plain irresponsible behavior on the part of both drivers, who should have taken their fun and games to a race track away from other innocent travelers who could have been killed by their shenanigans on I-59 in Houston. Several times, it’s amazing that they were able to avoid collisions with other cars.

General Motor's CFO Dan Ammann Shows He No Bean Counter

If General Motors, and therefore Corvette, are to thrive, it will likely take more employees like Dan Ammann.

Named the chief financial officer of the new GM last year, Ammann has wasted little time making it clear to those underneath him that he’s not one of the old guard. To illustrate his point, he recently even took his gray-metallic Corvette Z06 to 150 miles per hour in a challenge to the company’s “car guys.” Ammann is one of only 30 GM executives authorized to drive that fast on GM’s Michigan track.

A red 2012 Corvette came to rest nose-first in a canal in Royal Palm Beach, Florida early Monday morning.

The two passengers in the car, which was rented from Hertz, were able to make their way out of the car and apparently suffered only minor injuries. Fortunately, a witness headed to work saw the accident and called 911 for help.
