Each year at Bloomington Gold there are several special groupings of Corvettes on display. This year we were especially looking forward to seeing the 2014 Corvette Stingray Pace Car from this year’s Indianapolis 500. Little did we know that the Pace Car Registry was assembling a collection of 1 example of every Corvette Pace Car that’s led the field at Indy.
Let’s hope that the driver of this C6 Corvette makes a full recovery after a serious accident Monday morning in Missouri.
Police are still investigating why the 63-year-old driver, of Oran, Mo., rammed into the back of a tractor-trailer at a traffic light on South Kingshighway near the Southern Expressway in Cape Girardeau, Mo., a police spokesman said.
Bloomington Gold’s long awaited move to Champaign, Illinois took place last weekend as the show celebrated its 40th anniversary there. The one-of-a-kind 2011 “Jake Edition” Corvette Grand Sport built for the 2010 SEMA show will be auctioned on Friday afternoon at the National Corvette Museum with proceeds going to the new NCM Motorsports Park. Tickets are just $20 and there are no limits on how many tickets will be sold.
If you’re a big fan of the Transformers Corvette Stingray Coupe revealed in Chicago back in 2009, we have some good news and some bad news for you.

The good news is that apparently someone in Georgia liked the Stingray concept car so much that they went out and made one of their own – sort of.
If there is one project we can really get behind, it’s this 2006 Corvette Z06 made to look like the #3 ALMS GT1 Corvette C.6R. We’ve seen this tribute to Corvette Racing’s 2008 season before when the car appeared at 2008′s SEMA show in Las Vegas. We were amazed then and that feeling returned seeing the familiar pictures of the #3 Corvette C6.R in street form. Strategic Vision announced the winners of their 18th annual Total Quality Awards last week. Just like last year, the Chevrolet Corvette Coupe took best of show honors in the Premium Coupe category. The C6 also topped the Premium Convertible/Roadster division as well. For the first time in more than 10 years, domestic cars make up a majority of the Total Quality Award winners.
On the Saturday seminar at April 2013′s National Corvette Museum Bash, we got an update on all the happenings over at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant where the Chevrolet Corvette is built. Plant Manager Dave Tatman talks about closing out the C6 Corvette and preparing and building the C7 Corvette Stingray. He also talks about moving the Performance Build Center from Wixxom, MI to the BGAP.
