Apparently this video went viral while I was incommunicado over the Thanksgiving holiday. Two Silver Corvettes, a C6 and C5, were lined up at a stop light in the Houston neighborhood of The Woodlands. The motorist behind the duo gets a bad feeling about what is going to happen when the lights go green and starts filming. Sure enough, the race ends badly for both drivers and cars and now police have issued warrants for their arrest.
It’s not very often that we get to take an up close and personal look at a prototype Corvette. Most all of them are either crushed or destroyed during development by GM although a few of them have slipped out the door in the past. Mid America Motorworks brought three rare C5 prototypes to the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals last weekend in Chicago. We poured over them a couple of times throughout the weekend and you can too after the jump.
Corvettes were in plentiful supply at SEMA and we made an attempt to photograph each and every one we could find. That meant walking every aisle and outdoor space at the show. But we sacrificed for you our readers because you deserve no less. And so after the jump, we present the Corvettes of SEMA.
The title on the Dallas Craigslist ad simply reads “1999 Chevrolet Corvette Yellow 8 Cylinder Automatic Coupe – $104,900”. Savvy internet searchers will immediately notice the $105k price tag and wonder what kind of C5 can merit such a lofty sum. Well, this one can as it’s one of the 19 Callaway C12’s built in 1999. Click past the jump for more on this rare bird.
Zip Corvette has released their newly updated C5 and C6 Corvette Performance Parts & Accessories Catalogs. The 4th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector car auction in Las Vegas concluded Saturday night with 46 Corvettes crossing the auction block over the 3-day sale. The Sales for Corvettes totaled $2,549,250 which includes the 10% buyer’s commission. Check out the top sellers of the auction as well as the full results following the jump.
Welcome to the Corvette World Tribute, where Chevrolet’s supercar is celebrated by owners and drivers of all models, both on and off the track. In the ninth episode of Corvette Racing’s Track to Street series, enthusiasts and racers of today and yesterday come together to celebrate their common passion – the Corvette.
A couple months back we had the opportunity to tour the immense car collection of Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The diverse collection contains about 150 stunning muscle cars, exotics, classics, as well as several of LPE’s latest creations. No car collection is complete without a healthy dose of America’s sports car, and this one is no different. Roughly 40% of the grouping consists of Corvettes including some very rare ones. Check out some photos from our visit after the break.

I was finally able to make it to Carlisle’s downtown parade for the first time last weekend. I’m little bit embarrassed to admit that in my 5 previous trips to Carlisle that it wasn’t really on my radar screen of must-attend events. Now I’m trying to find a functional flux capacitor and a DeLorean so I can go back in time and catch up on the parades I’ve missed.
