A Corvette driver apparently having a seizure crashed his 1991 sports car through a concrete wall at a bicycle shop in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
The driver, Robert Bader, 52, was the only person injured in the crash, which happened about 1:25 p.m. at Bob’s Bicycle Shop near the intersection of Eau Gallie Boulevard and Burns Boulevard.
As the track for Hurricane Leslie (now a Tropical Storm) takes it over Canada’s Newfoundland today and into the North Atlantic, we are getting updates on twitter from some of the damage that has occurred. Unfortunately, one C4 Corvette owner’s car was smashed after a large shed had taken flight and landed on his red sports car.
We’ve closed the hood on yet another Corvettes at Carlisle show weekend. The 31st annual event was held last weekend at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA. After a shortened event last year due to Hurricane Irene, we were glad to see this show back firing on all cylinders. Great weather nearly all weekend provided the perfect backdrop on one of the best Carlisle shows yet.
It’s been a busy couple of week with the Woodward Dream Cruise and Corvettes at Carlisle running on consecutive weekends. We finally got a chance to catch our breath and now we’ve got some really cool Corvette photo galleries coming from each event. But before we move on to Carlisle, let’s wrap up the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise.
We and about 1.5 million of our closest friends converged on historic M-1 in metro Detroit to celebrate all things car and transportation related. Of course, the Corvettes were our favorite rides of the week so click past the jump to view our gallery of Corvettes from the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise.
As presenting sponsor of the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise, Chevrolet celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Corvette by showcasing a special timeline featuring milestone models of America’s Sports throughout its storied history.
The Corvette timeline was segmented by the six generations of Corvettes and the board behind the cars listed the significant developments that occurred during those years. Most of the Corvettes featured in the timeline came from the GM Heritage Center but there were also a lot of 2013 Corvettes on display as well.
The General Motors Design Team is responsible for drawing up the latest vehicle designs for the company, but have you ever wondered what these members have in their garages?
For the last three years, the GM Design Team has hosted a car show on the Wednesday prior to the Woodward Dream Cruise featuring their own personal cars. From Corvettes to ratrods, classic Chevys to modern customs, the rides of the designers show an eclectic mix of love for all things automotive.
If there was an Olympic event for world class car shows, Pebble Beach, Amelia Island and the Concours d’Elegance of America (formerly Meadowbrook) would all complete for the gold medal. Any (or all) of these 3 prestigious shows should be on your must-attend list. When we heard that there was going to be Corvette vs Jaguar racing display at this year’s Concours d’Elegance of America, we put it on our must, must, must-attend list.
With the seventh generation of the Chevrolet Corvette just months away, it’s a good time to take a look at just what makes a Corvette look like a Corvette.
For example, it’s been 60 years since the XP-122 Motorama concept car took the public by storm in 1952, leading to the 1953 debut model, but you can instantly tell it’s a Corvette just as much as the latest 2013 427 Collector Edition convertible.
Tom Peters, GM performance vehicle design director, says each generation of Corvette shares some common elements which create a consistent Corvette theme that is expressive, distinctly American, artful, and passionate.
