Last weekend we made a run down to CORSA Performance’s corporate headquarters in Berea, Ohio to take in their 12th annual Corvettes at CORSA show. Rain threatened, but never materialized which made for a dry, yet hot and muggy Midwestern summer day for roughly 250 Corvette owners. Read on to see more from this year’s show.

Over the weekend we learned that actor James Garner had passed away. Garner was a favorite of ours back in the day with great character roles like Bret Maverick and Jim Rockford. But did you also know that he was a serious race car driver who owned a Corvette racing team?
Back in 1989, I ordered my second new Corvette – a 1989 red on red coupe.
My girlfriend at the time and now my wife of 25 years (our anniversary is July 15, coincidentally) Cindy worked at a day care center.
She knew, of course, that I had ordered a new Corvette and just happened to be looking out the window at work one afternoon when she saw a truckload of Corvettes pass by – with a shiny red one on the back! In those days, they didn’t come giftwrapped in a white cover like the C7s!
“I think I just saw your Corvette pass by!” she called excitedly to tell me.
Sure enough, it was.
Fast forward to last weekend, and classic car collector Luigi Capilupi had a similar moment – but just one that wasn’t quite as happy for the owner as my own story.
The final slate of candidates for Bloomington Gold’s Great Hall was inducted at last month’s show in Champaign, ILL. Over the last five years, Bloomington Gold has honored 50 people and 50 Corvettes who have positively impacted our hobby. This year’s inductees mark the final year of the Great Hall.
The Great Hall’s intent is to salute the pioneers of our hobby – the people, organizations, and the cars that helped create the phenomenon we know and love today. It’s their passion and drive that helped build the hobby for all of us.
This 1968 L88 Corvette has come a long way since we first saw it as a fresh barn find in 2008.
The former psychedelic-painted racer was found in North Florida by our friends at ProTeam Corvette who rehabbed the street-raced L88 that was known locally as “Bounty Hunter”. Armed with a pedigree of awards, the Rally Red Convertible is headed to Mecum’s Monterey Auction in August where it will be offered for sale.
Paul Marseglia recently said goodbye to an old friend, the 1974 Corvette Stingray that he’s owned since it was new.
The Franklin, Mass., man donated his brown Corvette to the National Corvette Museum because he knew it would be treated with the same respect and love that he had shown it during the past 40 years.
One of our favorite things to do at the major Corvette shows is to walk both the show grounds and parking lots to look at the fun, witty and personality-descriptive vanity license plates that are adorned on America’s favorite sports cars.
We maintain the theory that there are two types of vanity plates. The first type describes the car while the second type is more focused on the owner. Lucky for us, Bloomington Gold offers a target rich environment where both types are on display.
Bob McDorman has been in love with cars since he was just a kid.
Now he’s sharing that enthusiasm with the public in a big way.
McDorman, a familiar face in the Corvette world thanks to his nearly half a century as a Chevrolet dealer, opened the Bob McDorman Automotive Museum in Canal Winchester, Ohio on the Fourth of July.
