Hendrick Motorsports is one of the top racing teams in NASCAR. In addition to claiming 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup championships since 1996, Hendrick also stakes claim to one the largest auto dealership empires in the world, selling over 200,000 cars in 2011. Like Hendrick, the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) looks for the very best in its judging of original and restored Corvettes. Now you can see how the 2 entities come together in this short video filmed at the 2012 NCRS Kissimmee Regional last month.
We’ve finally reached the end of a frenzied month of collector car auctions in Florida and Arizona. Our DVR is still smoldering from the 72 hours of recording over the last couple of weeks. Since Top 10 lists can be a little cliché, we’ve sifted through all of the results and compiled a list of the top 11 January Corvette sales.
The sun has barely set on all of the Arizona collector car auctions, but we’ve still got one more event to go before the 2012 calendar rolls over to February. Mecum’s monster 2,200 car Kissimmee, Florida auction begins Tuesday, January 24th at 11am and runs through Saturday, January 28th. Velocity will have 32 hours of live coverage starting on Wednesday the 25th.
It wasn’t easy combining the beauty of a 1963 Split Window with the mechanical prowess of a modern-day ZR1. But builder Anthony Luca managed to pull it off for car owner Joe Bongiorno – after more than 2,000 hours of work and much improvisation and deep thinking.
Here’s a funny eBay ad aimed at classic Corvette restorers that is making the rounds this week. If you are looking to earn the maximum points possible when having your Corvette flight judged, then you shouldn’t overlook the air in those reproduction tires. Today on eBay, you can buy the original tire air from a 1967 L88 Corvette.
Our final preview at the January collector car auctions will focus on the activities at Gooding and Company’s and RM Auctions’ camps. You already know about 1953 VIN #5 crossing the block at RM, but they’ve also got an early Pilot 1954 in addition to an original Monaco Orange 1969 L88 Coupe up for grabs at Gooding and Company.
RM and Gooding only have a total of 9 Corvettes combined on their dockets, but what they lack in quantity, they make up for in quality.
The next stop on our tour of the January auctions is Russo and Steele’s sale in Scottsdale, AZ. They’ll be offering over 700 cars including 50+ Corvettes during the January 18th – 22nd event including Noland Adams’ 1953 “Stamp Car”. The Russo and Steele docket contains a bevy of sweet rides with the majority being C1′s, C2′s, and C3′s. Check out some of the Corvette we’d love to be bidding on.
We’ve all heard tales of those rare finds discovered in a friend’s or relative’s nearby garage or barn. Sometimes, however, those treasures aren’t quite so close. Here’s a very rare right-hand-drive 1963 Z06 that was living in Australia since new. It will be returning back home to the USA courtesy of our friends at Proteam Corvette next month.
Check out these six great Corvettes we are featuring today from VetteFinders.com, the Internet’s original Corvette classifieds website. Each day thousands of buyers turn to our sister website to find the Corvette of their dreams as we have one of the best selections of both classic, preowned and new Corvettes available anywhere.
Mecum Auctions has announced that they’ll be offering 12 Corvettes from the Chuck Ungurean collection at their Kissimmee, Florida sale later this month. All dozen cars will be selling without reserve when they cross the auction block on Saturday, January 28th, 2012. Included among the spectacular lots are a 1969 L88, a 1972 ZR-1, and a pair of black 1967 L71’s.
