by Keith Cornett on March 30, 2011

Out-Of-This-World-Travel

David E. Davis, Jr. passed away this week at the age 80 years old. A former ad man for Chevrolet, he made his mark writing ad copy that told a story instead of focusing on the technical. After leaving Chevrolet, Davis went on to be a writer and later the editor for Car and Driver. He founded Automobile magazine in the mid-1980′s and was the editorial director of Motor Trend in early 2000′s. [VIDEO] Epic Compilation of Crashes by Vintage Racers

by Keith Cornett on March 10, 2011

This video is mostly off-topic when it comes to Corvettes (although a Corvette is seen at the beginning). Watching these guys race and you have to wonder if they weren’t all just a little crazy. Other than wearing helmets, safety equipment was pretty much non-existent. No roll bars, no seat belts, no fire-suppression systems. Check it out but be warned, some of these crashes couldn’t have ended well.

Auction Results: High Price Paid for '58 Corvette Barn Car

There is a song by Pearl Jam called “Soon Forget” that opens with these lines: “Sorry is the fool who trades his soul for a corvette. Thinks he’ll get the girl he’ll only get the mechanic.” I was immediately reminded of those lyrics when I came across this 1958 Corvette barn car that was sold at a Canadian auction over the weekend.

During last week’s Detroit Autorama, Cobo Hall was wall-to-wall hot rods and many of those hot rods were Corvettes. The classic hod rod Vettes ranged from originals and restomods to full blown customs like the 1962 Corvette named “Elegance” that won a spot in the Ridler Great 8. Not to be outdone, later model Corvettes included the SEMA Z06x track Corvette and a sinister Black Lingenfelter C6 Convertible were also on full display. Even Jake was in the house! Check out the full gallery after the jump.
