Corvette sales figures for December 2009 were released today by GM. Overall, Corvette sales seem to be holding steady with 1,033 deliveries in the last month of 2009. This marks an increase from the 952 Corvettes sold in November, but is -22% off the 1,324 Corvettes sold in December 2009. For the calendar year (Jan-Dec 09) 13,934 Corvettes were delivered which is -48.3% off the 26.917 Corvettes delivered in all of 2008.

I don’t refer to many Corvettes as “wicked” but I was flipping through eBay’s Corvette listings tonight and this serious-looking 1963 Corvette Grand Sport recreation caught my eye. Painted Silver with a Black stripe, the Grand Sport’s coupe body just rocks. Under the hood rocks too with a Chevrolet 464 crate engine mated to a 6-speed transmission.
Mecum’s Kansas City auction was held Friday and Saturday at the Kansas City Convention Center and the results were very favorable. Of the 46 Corvettes on the sales docket, 37 were sold which is a 80.4% success ratio. For a reserve-based auction, this is very good. Total Corvette sales for the auction was $1,096,750.
Mecum’s final auction of the year will be taking place this Friday and Saturday in Kansas City at the Kansas City Convention Center. Forty-four Corvettes are on the auction dockett and along with a host of classics and near classics you find at any auction, Mecum has included these two Karl Kustom C6 Corvettes.
GM released the figures yesterday for November 2009: 952 Corvettes were delivered in the month, a decline of over 200 units from October 2009′s 1,154. Year to year, Corvette sales are down 12% from the 1,093 deliveries in November 2008. For the calendar year (Jan-Nov 09) 12,901 Corvettes were sold compared with 25,647 sold over the same time period in 2008. That’s a decline of 49.7%.

While rally wheels were standard equipment on the 1967 Corvette, there was an optional wheel offered for the final year of the Sting Ray. RPO N89 was designated as “Cast Aluminum Bolt-on Wheels” and 720 buyers selected the pricey option, adding an additional $263.30 to the invoice. Fast forward 40-some years and now an original set of Kelsey Hayes sells for big bucks. How big? How about $20,000!
GM released the October sales report today that shows 1,154 Corvettes were delivered last month. This is a decrease of 27% over September’s 1,585 deliveries and 1.4% off October 2008′s sales of 1,170. For the calendar year (January-October) 11,949 Corvettes have been delivered, a decreased of 51.3% from the 24,554 Corvettes sold over the same time period in 2008.
