It looks like it will happen, Barrett-Jackson will auction off a C7 Corvette at their Scottsdale auction on Saturday, January 19th at 8:30 PM. It appears the good people at Barrett-Jackson are using the same diversionary tactics they used last year when they sold the 2013 Number 1 VIN 427 Convertible.
Back in August one of the famous Owens-Corning L88 Corvette racecars went up for bids at RM’s Monterey auction. There it was a no sale at a stout $730,000. If you’re still looking to do something with your spare million or so bucks before the Fiscal Cliff hits don’t worry. You’ll have another chance to snag this magnificent Corvette at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction next month in Arizona.
It’s not often that someone has the chance to buy a genuine piece of automotive history, with complete documentation since new to prove its heritage.
But that’s what bidders at the upcoming RM Auction in Phoenix, Arizona will have a chance to do on January 18, 2013.
Being offered is one of only 80 L88 Corvettes manufactured in 1968, and RM can trace the history of the most powerful Corvette of the muscle car era back to the original owner.
General Motors released their November Sales report earlier this week and Corvette sales are remaining steady. In November 2012, a total of 1,104 Corvettes were sold. This is 21.3% more than the 910 Corvettes sold during November 2011. For the calendar year to date, 12,841 Corvettes have been sold between January-November 2012. This is 5.9% better than 2011′s Corvette sales of 12,126 during the same months.
For the guy that wants the great looks and curves that late C3 Corvettes are known for, but still wants to maintain that “I can go anywhere” mentality that a four-wheel drive vehicle offers no matter what the road conditions are, I present to you this 1980 Corvette 4×4 that was recently spotted for sale on Craigslist.
Vicari Auctions will offer more than 200 classic and muscle cars at their 3rd annual New Orleans Classic Auto Festival Saturday, December 1st in New Orleans, La. A red on red fuel injected 1963 Corvette convertible pilot car will lead the Corvette brigade. The early production C2 wears serial #16 and is one of just 2 numbers matching pilot cars known to exist.
