Transformers Customized 2006 Corvette a No Sale on eBay

Transformers Customized 2006 Corvette a No Sale on eBay

One of the great things about the Corvette community is its appreciable tolerance of divergent viewpoints. Those who think the ultimate Corvette is a pristine Top Flight® award winner get along, at least for the most part, with those who think that a 1,000 horsepower in their modified Corvette is almost enough. If we accept this premise, then there must be Corvette fan somewhere who is also a Transformers aficionado and would love to have a modern, say a 2006, Corvette coupe that has been customized to pay homage to Autobot Sideswipe from the film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

by Mitch Talley on September 5, 2014

Vengeance Racing's 1,000 HP Corvette Stingray

You apparently just missed out on your chance to own the first Corvette Stingray ever to produce 1,000whp – at what looked to be a bargain price.

Vengeance Racing – saying it needed to make room for a new project – had been offering a 2014 Corvette Stingray for sale on eBay that featured more than $45,000 worth of modifications. The bidding reached almost $72,000, without meeting reserve, before the auction apparently came to an end on Sept. 1. We’re assuming the car sold for an unknown price because the listing says the bidding has ended and the car is no longer available.

OFFICIAL: GM Production of 2014 Corvette Stingrays Totals 37,288

Earlier this month we ballparked 2014 Corvette Stingray production at just over 36,500 units which takes into account the 35,523 known VINs plus an additional 1,050 for the Premiere Editions.

But we were too low in our estimate.

GM officially revealed at last weekend’s Corvettes at Carlisle show that 37,288 Corvettes were built during the 2014 model year.

Tony DeLorenzo's Personal Triple Black 1969 L88 Corvettes Heads to Mecum Dallas

The team at Mecum Auctions recently announced that the “Black Corvette L88 once owned by Tony DeLorenzo will cross the block at Mecum!”

If you closely follow the blue chip Corvette market you probably think they were talking about the black 1967 L88 Corvette raced by Tony DeLorenzo and sold by Mecum in 2011. That car was the first documented Corvette L88 ever produced and it sold for $1.25M to Terry Michaelis whose intent was to return the car to its race delivery.

But Mecum’s recent announcement is not about that car, it is announcing the sale of another important L88, DeLorenzo’s triple black 1969 personal driver which will be offered in Mecum’s Dallas auction September 3rd through 6th.

The Mecum Dallas auction has become one of the premier auctions in the world for offering important and historic Chevrolet Corvettes. This year’s event is no exception and in addition to DeLorenzo’s L88 has several other excellent Corvettes crossing the block from blue chip collectibles to restomods.

2003 Corvette Le Mans Safety Car to Cross Russo and Steele's Monterey Auction Block

Here’s a 2003 Corvette with a very special history, and it could be yours Friday night during Russo and Steele’s 14th annual Monterey California Auction.

The Corvette, of course, celebrated its 50th birthday in 2003, and Chevrolet offered a distinctive 50th Anniversary package to anyone who wanted to buy it.

This car, though, went much further than a paint job, as it served as an official Safety Car for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France that year.
