Longtime Chevrolet dealer Bob McDorman is well known for his impressive collection of Corvettes and other significant Chevys. He owns one Corvette of every model year from 1953 through 2010. Also included in his collection are 12 VIN #1 Corvettes and other low serial number Corvettes, as well as several previous celebrity-owned Corvettes from the likes of Burt Reynolds, Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell and my cousin Leanza Cornett, who was Miss America in 1993.
Corvettes For Sale
Last time we were on the subject of Corvettes painted green, we were talking Dark Bowling Green Metallic and the color similar to that which was featured on the Allstate 400 Corvette Grand Sport that ran at the Brickyard a couple weekends ago. Well, today we’re going to take you the opposite direction with a color so green, you’ll either love it or hate it. Here is a custom 2010 Corvette Grand Sport offered for sale by Colorado Chevy Dealer Purifoy which borrows the limited edition Synergy Green from Camaro and gets all crazy with it. You think that exterior is bold, when you see Jake embroidered on the seats, you’ll be green with envy.
Here is a former 2006 SEMA car that was ahead of its time. The Genaddi Design Group heard the requests from Corvette owners early on and built this one-off custom roadster out of a Corvette Z06. It can now be yours for the low, low price of $175K.
As Barn Finds goes, this one is a bit more interesting than most. Here is a vintage 1958 Corvette that was raced hard and put away wet as my dad would say. Owned and raced by James Huskey in the Houston, Texas area, this Corvette was terrorizing tracks throughout the 60s-70s before being put into storage where is sat for over 30 years. Auction ends soon so check it out.
Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction is kicking off their new Orange County event this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The three day auction will televised by SPEED and the docket currently contains 31 Corvettes. With Orange County considered the birthplace of customizing and hotrods, it seems appropriate that nearly a third of the Corvettes are customs and resto-mods.
Most Corvette enthusiasts are familiar with the legendary L88 package which was essentially a collection of limited edition racing parts installed on the L71 427/435 hp engine. I would also say that most are not that familiar with the 1970-72 ZR1 package which essentially did the same with the LT-1 350 ci small block. Much rarer than the 216 L88s made the three years prior, only 53 ZR1 Corvettes were produced during the three year span making them the rarest of all Chevy small blocks. So its a pretty big deal when one shows up for sale like this 1972 Corvette ZR1 which was recently listed for sale on eBay.
Check out these six great Corvettes we are featuring today from VetteFinders.com, the Internet’s original Corvette classifieds website. Each day thousands of buyers turn to our sister website to find the Corvette of their dreams as we have one of the best selections of both classic, preowned and new Corvettes available anywhere.
Is the economy so bad that even SpeedRacer has to part with his famous Mach 5 race car? Actually, we were tipped to this unique Corvette-based Mach 5 from a twitter user who passed by it on Ventura Boulevard where the car was on the lot of Woodland Hills Quality Motors in LA. The body style is similar to one of Mark Towle’s The Real Mach 5 replicas down to the wheels, but I couldn’t tell you if this is one of his or not. You can be SpeedRacer for just $27,995 although we are pretty sure that it doesn’t come with a monkey.
Chevrolet had some big plans in 2009 for honoring the Corvette Racing team with the GT1 Championship Special Edition Corvettes. Built to commemorate the 10 years of GT1 racing which included 70 victories, 8 GT1 Manufacturer Championships and five GT1 class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the initial plan was to offer 600 Corvettes, however, the global automotive recession limited production to only 125 cars. The 2009 Coupe you see here is #18 of only 24 Black GT1 Championship Edition Coupes produced.
RM Auctions is set to offer two distinctly different 1969 L88 Corvettes at their “Classic Muscle & Modern Performance” auction in San Diego, California on June 19th. Rarely do these high performance Corvette surface for sale and when they do, they tend to be snapped up rather quickly. And because this is a no-reserve auction, you can guarantee they will both be sold.
