Mecum Auctions has announced that they’ll be offering 12 Corvettes from the Chuck Ungurean collection at their Kissimmee, Florida sale later this month. All dozen cars will be selling without reserve when they cross the auction block on Saturday, January 28th, 2012. Included among the spectacular lots are a 1969 L88, a 1972 ZR-1, and a pair of black 1967 L71’s.

One of the earliest known examples of the 1953 Corvette will be featured at the RM Auction in Phoenix, Arizona next month. Chassis #005 was the fifth Corvette ever built and one of the first three Corvettes to be sold to the public. RM is expecting the Corvette to fetch between $450,000 and $600,000 at the Arizona sale on Friday, January 20th.
Here’s a fun Corvette that we wouldn’t mind having parked under our Christmas tree. This 1954 model is currently for sale on EBay. The white on red roadster is a tribute to the famous 1955 Duntov EX87 test mule that ran 163mph in 1955.
Russo and Steele Collector Car Auctions has announced that this 1953 Corvette owned by Corvette restoration guru Noland Adams will cross the auction block next month at their Scottsdale event which runs from January 18th – 22nd. Noland purchased the C1 in 1955 and in 2005 the car was featured on the popular Corvette stamp.
Our friends at Corvette Market magazine have announced that their quarterly publication will morph into American Car Collector magazine. The new magazine will be published 6 times per year (a 50% increase) and current CM subscribers will automatically receive American Car Collector throughout the duration of their subscriptions.
Leake Auction Company will be offering over 30 Corvettes for sale at their upcoming Dallas event. The three day sale will take place Friday, November 18th through Sunday, November 20th at Market Hall in Dallas, Texas. Among the Corvette offerings are two very rare cars: a 1961 big tank racecar and a 1971 LS6 Coupe. You can read more about each lot after the break.
If your looking for a project C3 or C4 Corvette, check out this auction of over 100 salvage Corvettes that will be sold on Saturday in Forest City, North Carolina. Whittington Auction and Appraisal is handling the gavel duties for this collection of mostly insurance salvage Corvettes and parts. The sale is actually the first of two auctions with the second part dealing with thousands of used original Corvette parts.
At the 1954 Motorama, GM unleashed three Corvette-based concept cars onto the show circuit. Dubbed the Convertible Coupe, the Corvair, and the Nomad, the trio caused a stir when they debuted in New York in January of 1954. As we all know, the Nomad made it to production a couple years later, but in a non-Corvette form. If you always wanted to own the original Nomad, get your bidding fingers ready to bid on this recreation currently listed on eBay.
A ton of excitement was generated on Saturday afternoon at Mecum’s inaugural auction in Dallas. Of the 116 L88 Corvettes that were built in 1969, the black coupe that hit the auction block this past Saturday may be one of the finest examples of them all. An all original Corvette, the Black L88 coupe dominated the attention of bidders and its stong selling price at $562,500 set the high sale of the entire auction.
