The Pizza Man Ready to Deliver at Mecum St. Charles

What’s been called the “World’s Fastest Six Cylinder Corvette” will be crossing the block next weekend at Mecum’s annual Fall Premier auction in St. Charles, IL. This iconic drag racer beat up on the competition from 1962 – 1971 with Earl Britt behind the wheel. Britt operated Earl’s Pizza Palace in Sioux Falls, South Dakota when not setting ET records and winning multiple NHRA championships.

A 1968 Corvette Stolen a Decade Ago Found in Aussie Shipping Container

Kids figured out long ago that you just never know what might be waiting in that big box when you open it on your birthday.

Well, that philosophy recently took an unusual turn down under.

Wharf inspectors in Brisbane, Australia finally opened a shipping container which had been sitting undisturbed on the docks for a decade and lo and behold discovered a stolen 1968 Corvette resting inside. The owner had reported the white convertible with a black top stolen 10 years ago and apparently went on his merry way after receiving an insurance payout.

Mecum Auctions will offer roughly 165 Corvettes for sale this week as part of their 2nd annual Dallas auction. The event kicks off Wednesday, September 5th and runs through Saturday, September 8th. The venerable Velocity crew will have 18 hours of live auction coverage from the event. According to the Mecum website over 900 total cars are currently consigned and Corvettes make up almost 20% of the docket. GM Chairman/CEO Dan Akerson to Sell 1958 Corvette to Benefit Habitat for Humanity

If you were at the Woodward Dream Cruise over the weekend, you may have seen the 1958 Regal Turquoise Corvette that’s going on the auction block soon to help breathe new life into Detroit.

General Motors Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson had his 1958 Corvette on display at the Dream Cruise after earlier announcing that he’ll donate proceeds from the sale to Habitat for Humanity Detroit, which is trying to bring the Morningside Commons neighborhood on the city’s lower east side back to life.
