Martin Milner (right) played Tod Stiles with sidekick George Maharis (left) as Buz Murdock.
The iconic “Route 66” TV show was ostensibly about two young men and their adventures traveling across America, exploring social issues of the era.
But to Corvette enthusiasts, the show was much more than that – a prime vehicle to see their favorite car on a weekly basis.
Sadly, one of the stars of the show – Martin Milner – passed away Sunday at his home in Carlsbad, Calif., at the age of 83.

Take a look at this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage when fellow comedian Joe Rogan comes calling in his super-cool 1965 Corvette restomod.
Besides being a comedian, Rogan, of course, served as host of “Fear Factor” for years and has a gig as a UFC commentator (fitting since he’s a tae kwon do champion).

I don’t profess to be a music critic, but I do check out nearly every song or video that comes across my timeline with the words “Corvette” in the title and they are almost always invariably bad.

One of the more awesome traditions in professional team sports is the National Hockey League allowing each team member of the winning Stanley Cup hockey team to host the famous trophy for a 24 hour period. This year it was the Chicago Blackhawks who brought home the Cup and now literally, each player on the team gets to take home the cup.
As we saw over the weekend on NHL.com, some do it with a little more style like the Blackhawk’s Duncan Keith who started his day with the Cup riding shotgun in a 1962 Corvette as they made their way to the beach where Keith grew up.

It’s not very often that we get to write the description of a Corvette as “pink on pink.” But that’s the case with this wild 1969 Chevy customized by the legendary Larry Watson that is now for sale on eBay.
This might be just the ticket for Barbie, if she wants a retro Corvette to ride around with Ken.

Back in 1977, a young filmmaker named George Lucas changed pop culture forever with the release of the first Star Wars movie. That film not only ushered in cool special effects, it set the standard (in the immortal words of Spaceball’s Mel Brooks) for movie merchandising and soon Star Wars branded toys and accessories were everywhere.
Obviously, the first Star Wars movie made an impact on the former owner and creator of this special 1974 Corvette which showcases many scenes from the movie with hand airbrushed murals painted on every body panel.
With the next installment of the movie franchise due in December 2015, it’s timely that this Star Wars branded Corvette Stingray is now for sale on eBay.

Guys like Zora Arkus-Duntov, Harley Earl and Ed Cole are the names of legends to those of us who are Corvette fans.
Like Mad Men for car guys, I imagine Corvette’s first Chief Engineer and his wife Elfie hosting a cocktail party in the early ’60s at their Detroit home with the whose-who of Chevrolet performance walking the halls or standing in the kitchen with drinks in their hands talking about the latest engine test or what crosstown rivals Ford was up to.
Now you can walk those same halls that Zora once did as the house that he and his wife Elfie owned is back on the market.

John Greenwood’s recent passing should make this 1974 Greenwood Corvette chassis number 002 even more desirable at the upcoming August Mecum auction.
Number 002, also known as the “Spirit of Sebring ’75,” has a tremendous amount of history behind it, including the fact that it was John Greenwood’s personal favorite.
Greenwood made only six of his wide-body race machines, and this example is the only one that was raced as a Greenwood “team” entry, with the others being built for customers.

We took some time during last weekend’s Bloomington Gold at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to assemble our latest installment of Corvette vanity plates. Bloomington this year provided a bumper crop of cool plates to include our gallery. From the GoldMine to the Certification field we had plenty of plates to enjoy.

Last weekend, millions of Americans watched as the USA Women’s Soccer team defeated Japan to win the FIFA World Cup, the first time the team has won the cup since 1999. Shutting down the opposition throughout the tournament was goalie Hope Solo, who recorded five shut-outs and allowed only three goals.
In today’s Throwback Thursday, we go all the way back to when the goalie drove the Corvette Grand Sport Pace Car at NASCAR’s 2011 Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
