Paul Newman’s Last Corvette Racer Headed to RM’s Amelia Island Auction

The last car raced by renowned actor Paul Newman will be one of the features at RM Auctions’ Amelia Island sale next month in Florida. As lot #130, Newman’s 2002 #83 SCCA Corvette racer will cross the block on March 10, 2012. Newman raced the car from 2003 to 2007 and was victorious in it at his last race one year before he died in 2008.

[VIDEO] Whistleblower Raises Questions on Corvette Dream Giveaway Charity

You’ve probably seen the ubiquitous flyers about the Kids Wish Network, which for years has raffled off a pair of Corvettes (usually a “Hero” edition ZR1 and a classic Midyear) to raise money to grant the wishes of dying and sick children.

Now a Tampa TV station alleges that the Florida-based kids’ charity organization is spending only 12 cents of every dollar it raises to actually grant those wishes.

Callaway Cars Announces the Return of RPO B2K with Special 25th Anniversary Edition

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Callaway Cars has announced that the famous RPO B2K option package will return to a limited number 2012 Corvettes. The popular option package first appeared in 1987 and, when selected, force-fed the stock Corvette L98 through a pair of intercooled turbos. Motor Trend’s newest web show is called “Head2Head” and its all about comparisions of two similar cars. In the premiere episode, MT editor Angus Mackenzie compares the 2012 Corvette Grand Sport to the all new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S. While it’s obvious from the beginning that Mackenzie has a favorite (and it’s not the Corvette), the “Head2Head” video still features some great eye candy as well as a hefty dose of the Corvette’s mighty 436-hp V8.

Driving in ice and snow is an experience most drivers would just as soon forego.

But, for British journalist Chris Knapman, the experience was “technically challenging” and “at times, just plain scary,” as he recently maneuvered a Corvette Z06 around an ice track at the Laponie Ice Driving school in Sweden, just 50 miles from the Arctic Circle.

And to think, some of us Corvette drivers won’t even let our cars get wet in a rain shower!
