When it comes to custom license plates, Corvette owners are tops when it comes to unique characters, phrases, or sayings. We spent took some time this weekend wandering the grounds of the Pheasant Run Resort see what the all the Corvette owners had come up with. Click past the jump to see some of our favorite license plates from the 2012 Bloomington Gold show.
The Lifestyle
You can’t please everyone – even when you take away a drug dealer’s car.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Department in Atlanta, Georgia is under fire from some citizens for keeping a confiscated Corvette ZR1 that it is using for promotional and educational purposes.

One of our favorite days of the year is once again upon us! For the last 12 years, Mid America Motorworks Chief Cheerleader Mike Yager has urged Corvette enthusiasts to drive their Corvettes to work to show the popularity of America’s Sports Car. The annual holiday is always on the Friday closest to June 30th, which of course is the official birthday of the Corvette, and so that makes this Friday, June 29th as the official day to drive your Corvette to work!
Back in the 1970s, when Corvette replacement parts were sometimes hard to come by, Wayne Walker decided to take matters into his own hands and made a gas line for his 1961 Corvette.
From that humble beginning, when he soon began selling his products at swap meets around the country, Walker has built a global Corvette parts business called Zip Products Inc – also known as Zip Corvette – that he turned over to his son, David, when he retired in 1994.
A writer at stltoday.com in St. Louis wonders, what baby boomer hasn’t dreamed of someday owning a Corvette?
He’s right. Older baby boomers grew up watching Route 66 on TV every week and quickly learned to drool over the new Corvette driven by Martin Milner and George Maharis (at least for 2½ seasons), two happy-go-lucky young guys who lived an exciting life out of their shiny sports car. If that doesn’t get a young man lusting after a car, what will?
We made a quick stop last weekend at the 8th annual Canterbury Corvette Fest hosted by the GMC Corvette Set club. Just under 100 Corvettes were spread out around the scenic property of Olde World Canterbury Village in Lake Orion, Michigan. A photo gallery of the event lurks just beyond the jump.
After a stunning 12 year run which saw Corvette once again flex its performance muscle, the final Corvette of the C4 generation rolled off the assembly line in Bowling Green on June 21, 1996. Over 366,000 Corvettes were built during these years and today the sleek-looking sports car still has a loyal following. Check out these videos which chronicled the building of the final C4.
They say that necessity is the mother of invention.
Corvette Central founder and CEO Jerry Kohn would probably agree with that.
Back in the 1970s, Kohn was a tool & die specialist and a Corvette enthusiast from Michigan who was looking for much-needed parts for a 1958 Corvette. It didn’t take long for him to discover that the parts he needed were either not available, poorly made, or overpriced.
Father’s Day took an especially meaningful turn this year for an Oak Lawn, Illinois family, and a classic Corvette was right there in the mix.
Escorted by a convoy of Warrior Watch Riders, Lance Marine L Cpl Joseph Harr came rolling up Sunday afternoon in a 1962 red Corvette, home for a few days from a tour in Afghanistan.
