As a 15+ year subscriber to Corvette Fever magazine, I was surprised (although not shocked) when I recently heard that the magazine was being merged with Vette magazine and would cease publication. Both magazines are owned by Source Interlink who also publishes Motor Trend and Hot Rod Magazine. In recent years the quality of the magazine has suffered, partly due to the economic realities of competition that magazines have with the internet as well as the company having two similar publications.
Edmunds took a Viper SRT-10 and a 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon prototype out to a track to determine which car could lay the longest burnout. Finally, a comparision test I can get excited about! Both cars got three attempts and their tire marks were measured. Josh Jacquot was the driver for this non-scientific test and although he was bullish on the Viper from the get-go, it was the Velocity Yellow Z06 Corvette that left the biggest (and longest) impression.
A recent study of Corvette owners by SEMA found that the exhaust system is the most popular upgrades. Our friends at Corvette Central are aware of this fact and have set up a site dedicated to Corvette exhaust systems. CorvetteCentralExhaust.com features stock and performance systems for all six Corvette generations including these new dual-outlet mufflers for 1984-1990 Corvettes.
Automotive News published this cutaway graphic which shows the various parts suppliers to the 2010 Corvette ZR1. Corvette owners are familiar with some of the bigger names like Dana (aluminum spaceframe), Eaton (supercharger) and Brembo (brakes), but this graphic also shows who makes the lug nuts (Taper Pro), hood hinges (Multimatic), instrument panels (IAC) and more. Could be helpful if you’re looking for replacement parts. Download it after the jump.
The National Corvette Museum is hosting a community event which will feature Corvettes “roaring” around the National Corvette Museum’s parking lot. Saturday marks the 16th time the Junior Achievement Mini Corvette Challenge will be run in Bowling Green. Go-karts with four-cycle engines and Corvette bodies will be customized and tuned to perfection for the popular event.

Here is a beautiful Callaway Speedster that is listed for sale over at Fantasy Junction. This 1999 Corvette C12 Callaway Speedster is one of only two C12 speedsters produced and the execution of this special purpose-built Corvette is by far one of the best I’ve ever seen. Check out some pics of this awesome metallic blue Callaway after the jump.
Here is a cool promotional video from our friends at the SmokinVette Corvette forum.
