Corvette Museum to Host One Lap of Kentucky Road Tour

The One Lap of Kentucky Road Tour is the National Corvette Museum’s latest in a series of driving and touring events. This inaugural event kicks off October 12th for a five day site-seeing tour of some of Kentucky’s well-known attractions. Leading the tour will be the Kentucky State Police who are using the event to raise funds for Trooper Island, a youth camp supported by the KSP.

[VIDEO] Radio Host Assembles His Own LS9 Corvette Engine

Earlier this week, radio host Todd Schnitt became the first consumer to participate in the Corvette Engine Build Experience which allowed him to assemble his own engine that will then be installed in his new 2011 Corvette ZR1 at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant. Here is a video of Schnitt assembling his supercharged 638-horsepower engine and some of his comments regarding the engine build program.

This 2006 Corvette Z06 formerly owned by actor Adrien Brody is the latest celebrity-owned Corvette to cross the virtual block on eBay. Brody purchased the Corvette Z06 new and like many Corvette enthusiasts, he visited the plant in Bowling Green to witness the assembly of his car. Brody even had the opportunity to sign the engine block which he inscribed “Killer Vette” with a skull and crossbones. Now you can own his Machine Silver Z06 which is affordably priced with a “Buy-it-Now” of $46,900.

Harkening back to the days where dealers collaborated with speed shops to produce branded high performance versions ala Baldwin Motion, the HTR-GS640/SC is the creation of Howard Tanner of Redline Motorsports and Dan Carlton of DeNooyer Performance Chevrolet. Take a Grand Sport Corvette, add an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger and host of other upgrades and you got a 640 horsepower ZR1-fighter for just over $82,000.

Radio show Host Will Be First to Build Own Corvette Engine

The last time we spoke of Todd Schnitt, his 2009 Corvette ZR1 was on the assembly line in Bowling Green and he was sharing photos of the assembly process with his listening audience. Schnitt makes our Corvette news again, but this time its because of an option he ordered for his new 2011 Corvette ZR1 – The Corvette Engine Build Experience. Next week, Todd becomes be the first customer in Corvette history to build his own engine for his 2011 ZR1.

[VIDEO] 1960 #3 Le Mans Corvette Historic Return Documentary Trailer

When Lance Miller set out to return the #3 Briggs Cunningham 1960 Corvette and its driver John Fitch to Le Mans for the 50th anniversary of the cars win, he was accompanied by Corvette collector and documentary filmmaker Michael Brown who captured the experience in HD. A fall release of the feature-length documentary as well as a book are expected. While we wait, a trailer of the coming film has been released.

GM has officially rolled out the 2011 model year Corvettes on www.corvette.com. The new site features many upgrades to the previous site including a cool new color selector and a new build your own configurator. Customers can search dealer inventories and connect with Corvette’s social media groups through facebook and twitter updates directly on the site.

LPG-Powered Corvette Z06 Claims New Drift World Record

Fitting nicely into our recent theme of green Corvettes comes this video from somewhere in Europe featuring a Corvette Z06 powered by natural gas. The oval track was measured at 400 feet in circumference and our hero in the lime-green Z06 drifted 25 complete rotations for a total of 9,925 feet. The previous record is mentioned in the video at 6,285 feet.
