[VIDEO] 2012 Camaro ZL1 Runs the Nurburgring in 7:41.27

It’s not often we dedicate a post about a vehicle that’s not a Corvette, but when we see another Bowtie running the Nordschleife, we take notice. Here is the official video of the new 2012 Camaro ZL1 running the Nurburgring in 7:41.27. Powered by a supercharged 6.2L “LSA” V8 rated at 580 horsepower and 556 lb-ft of torque, the new ZL1 was 40 seconds faster than the Camaro SS and 18 seconds faster than the Cadillac CTS-V’s 7:59. Earlier this year, the Corvette ZR1 ran a 7:19.63 while the Z06 clocked in at 7:22.68.

At the SEMA show in 2006, Art Morrison’s project 3G Corvette won the “Gran Turismo Award” which also meant that it would be featured in the Playstation video game “Gran Turismo”. While many fans may have driven the custom 538 horsepower Corvette in the game, Matt Farah headed out to Spring Mountain motorsports park outside of Las Vegas to drive the real thing.

Join Kerbeck this Saturday for 8th Annual Toys for Tots Corvette Round Up

For the eighth straight year, Corvette owners from all over the northeast will converge on Atlantic City, NJ this Saturday for Kerbeck’s Toys for Tots Corvette Roundup. Last year, donations totaled several thousand toys for the United State Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots campaign and the goal for this year is to exceed those numbers to help make the holidays special for as many children as possible.

1969 BFG Stars & Stripes ZL1/L88 Racer Finds New Home at Proteam Corvette

Remember John Greenwood’s 1969 BF Goodrich Stars and Stripes ZL1/L88 racer that sold at RM’s Monterey auction for $638,000? Purchased by Terry Michaelis of Proteam Corvette, the ’69 BFG Corvette recently made its way home to the company’s Napoleon, Ohio facility. The former Le Mans race car will be the centerpiece of Proteam’s L88 collection which now numbers seven special production L88′s of the 216 produced between 1967-1969.

A couple months back we had the opportunity to tour the immense car collection of Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The diverse collection contains about 150 stunning muscle cars, exotics, classics, as well as several of LPE’s latest creations. No car collection is complete without a healthy dose of America’s sports car, and this one is no different. Roughly 40% of the grouping consists of Corvettes including some very rare ones. NY Governor Andrew Cuomo attended a Corvette show Sunday in East Meadow, N.Y., driving his 1975 Bright Blue Corvette that he bought in college for $4,750.

“I use it — it’s not a show car by any means,” Cuomo said. “I leave it in a parking lot, so the car isn’t as clean as these cars. It’s far from perfect.”
