Corvettes on Craiglist: 1969 FinoVette by George Barris

For sale on Craigslist is a George Barris custom creation built from a 1969 Corvette. The story goes that Barris was commissioned to the build the car for Bobby Rautbord, the off-shore boat racing champion who won the 1972 World Cup. The boat that Rautbord won the World Cup with was called the Fino #18 and so Barris named the creation the “Finovette”.

Morning Burnout: Lew Stitely's 1953 Corvette - The Tijuana Taxi

Let’s kick off 2012 right with a morning burnout courtesy of Lew Stitely’s 1953 Corvette gasser dubbed the Tijuana Taxi. This classic first-year Corvette was doing its thing out at Beaver Springs Dragway in PA and the video features several awesome burnouts, dry hops and a nine second quarter-mile run!

With Chevrolet joining the ranks of advertisers seeking independent filmmaker submissions for a Super Bowl commercial, it’s only fitting that our friends from Michael Brown Productions, creators of “The Quest” documentary, submitted two commercials for the competition. Featuring two Corvettes at opposite ends of the performance spectrum, the commercials made it through Round 1 but were eventually cut from consideration. As the two commercials were done totally with “tongue firmly planted in cheek”, Michael has released them for your viewing pleasure.

Bloomington Gold Corvette Show Moving to Champaign, IL in 2013

The team at Bloomington Gold has announced that beginning in 2013 the annual Bloomington Gold Corvette show will be held in Champaign, Illinois on the campus of the University of Illinois. The new location is about 50 miles southeast of where the show was first born back in 1973.

Corvette Community Loses Friend with Passing of Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy, the man who created the simple yet wildly popular Corvette locater service passed away on Wednesday, December 7th after battling an undisclosed illness for some time. For us, his website provided more than just the ability to find specific Corvettes, it provided us with a running narrative of how Corvettes were selling.
