I had an epiphany last August after a visit to the GM Heritage Center. As I laid my eyes on the 1959 Corvette Stingray Racer, I knew right then that it was my favorite Corvette design of all time. So how cool is it to see a modern take on the classic Stingray Racer with this rendering by car enthusiast and designer Giovanni Huang.
Earlier this month we found an update to the Corvette Stingray Order Guide detailing the two types of body stripes and the colors they will be available in. At the Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Chevrolet displayed several different Corvette Stingrays including these two with the full body racing stripes in colors that haven’t been seen until now.
Filmmaker Michael Bay and his cadre of automotive robots was back in the Motor City last week as a portion of the city was turned into an Asian Metropolis for a scene in the fourth installment of Transformers.
The Green and Black “Race-Inspired” C7 Corvette Stingray was there (actually there were two C7 Stingrays on the set), the yellow Camaro known as Bumble Bee, the black and blue Bugatti and the Western Star Semi Truck that is Optimus Prime.
We all have heard numerous fascinating stories about the history, performance and build specifications of found then often restored Corvettes over the last several years.
“Barn find” cars of all types are always special and it seems that Terry Michaelis’ has had more than his share of interesting barn-find Corvettes, finding two 1963 Z06′s with race histories within the same year. After selling the first barn find, Michaelis began an impeccable restoration on his second race Z06 discovery, the car originally campaigned by Dick Lang in the early 60′s. This 1963 Corvette Z06 was found in a barn less than twenty miles from Dick Lang’s original Chevrolet dealership, and today, following Michaelis’ impeccable restoration, at a cost of over $200,000, it is now being shown and winning concours throughout the country.
But perhaps an equally, if not more interesting story is the story of C.J. Titterington’s 1963 Z06 race car which will be displayed along side of Terry Michaelis’ Z06 at the upcoming Concours d’Elegance of America in Michigan.

Matt Rodriguez made it back more than 40 years ago from Vietnam, where he worked as a crew chief on a chopper.
After he returned to the States in 1970, he began a 30-year career with General Motors in the tool and dye department. That’s when he also started his long love affair with Corvettes, picking up a used 1968 model that he later sold to buy a new 1980.
“When you are young, everyone wants a Corvette, and I had an opportunity,” Rodriguez said.
Here’s another great photo gallery from our friends at D2FORGED showing their custom wheels on a C5 Corvette. Back in May we shared a C5 Convertible Widebody riding on D2FORGED CV2 colormatched wheels and now they’ve supplied us with pics of the red C5 Corvette which is sitting tight on a set of FMS05 Wheels.
It was only last month that we found out that there was another installment of Michael Bay’s Transformers in the making with a whole new fleet of cars including the 2014 Corvette Stingray.
The Green and Black “Race Inspired” 2014 Corvette Stingray was spotted on the Transformers 4 set somewhere around Adrian, Michigan.

Great news! We’ve found yet another Corvette treasure on Craigslist.
