Peter Max VH1 Corvette Collection Found!

Last week we brought you the news about the 36-car Corvette collection belonging to artist Peter Max being moved out of a former Daily News printing plant in Brooklyn. But where did the Vettes go? Luckily, a DigitalCorvettes.com member was in the right place in the right time and another member was able to get these pictures showing what appears to be another “several year stop” for the collection.

2009 Callaway GT1 Championship Edition featured in Corvette Magazine

In 1989 VH1 held a contest where they gave a way 36 Corvettes – one for every year beginning in 1953 through 1989 – to a single winner. Dennis Amodeo, a carpenter from Long Island won the collection, but before taking delivery he sold all 36 Corvettes to Pop artist Peter Max who planned to use the cars for an art project. The project never got off the ground and the Corvettes ended up parked in a Brooklyn building where they were essentially forgotten.

LG Motorsport's Lou Gigliotti is Running for Congress

I just got a heads up from a friend that Lou Gigliotti, Corvette race car driver and founder of LG Motorsports is running for the 4th congressional district in Texas. Without getting too political on a car blog, Lou’s 30 years experience as a small business owner and his legendary competitiveness is just the kind of experience needed in Washington. Please take a moment to visit Gigliotti for Congress and let’s all wish a fellow Corvette driver lots of luck in this new endeavor.

Highlights from the NCRS Winter Regional in Kissimmee

This weekend was the 32 annual NCRS Winter Regional held at Old Town in Kissimmee, Florida. After a drenching rain Thursday evening that flooded much of the swap meet and vendor field, the sky turned blue on Friday and temperatures hovered in the mid-seventies for the rest of the weekend. As we always like to do, we have a bevy of Corvette pictures to share. If i’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times. If you own a Corvette, you need to get to one of these larger shows. Hundreds of Corvettes to see, plus the vendors and used parts sellers will ensure you won’t go home empty handed.

A Corvette Friend at Bondurant Needs Your Help

by Keith Cornett on January 16, 2010

The Bondurant School of High Performance Driving has been an advertiser on this blog for well over a year now and I say with conviction that there’s not a better group of people to work with. Bob and his team have made many many contributions to the Corvette community. So when we heard through the grapevine last night that one of their employees was hospitalized on Christmas Eve with severe medical problems, we wanted to spread the word. If you can spare any kind of assistance then read on.

Celebrating Zora's 100th Birthday

Zora Arkus-Duntov was born 100 years ago Christmas Day. Known affectionately by enthusiasts as the “Godfather of the Corvette”, he is credited with turning around the floundering program by upgrading the Corvette’s power and handling and masterfully creating a balance of performance and value that is still present today. Although he retired from GM in 1975 after 22 years of service, he never left the hearts of the community and was active until his passing in 1996. Today, his ashes and those of his wife Elfi are in a special memorial at the National Corvette Museum.
