It’s safe to say that the GoPro HD cameras that you can attach to your cars via a suction cup has revolutionized the way drivers immortalize their exploits behind the wheel. While the handy little plastic-encased cameras are mostly used for capturing burnouts, club cruises and the occasional accident, we’re surprised we don’t see more of this – GoPro equipped Corvettes getting pulled over by the Man!
Let’s kick off 2012 right with a morning burnout courtesy of Lew Stitely’s 1953 Corvette gasser dubbed the Tijuana Taxi. This classic first-year Corvette was doing its thing out at Beaver Springs Dragway in PA and the video features several awesome burnouts, dry hops and a nine second quarter-mile run!
The team at Bloomington Gold has announced that beginning in 2013 the annual Bloomington Gold Corvette show will be held in Champaign, Illinois on the campus of the University of Illinois. The new location is about 50 miles southeast of where the show was first born back in 1973.
Our Christmas tradition continues with the 7th annual repost of “Twas The Night Before Christmas – Corvette Style”. The Corvette remix of this holiday classic continues to be one of our favorite posts. As always, I’d like to wish everyone who visits CorvetteBlogger a very Merry Christmas and Christmas wishes go out to the men and women serving our country in the Armed Forces both home and abroad. God Bless you all!
As Christmas quickly approaches we’re sure most of you are busy attacking the malls and online stores like we are grabbing sweaters, gifts cards and such. What if shopping was more fun? Say everyone on your list wanted a Corvette and money was no option? Fact: Corvette shopping is way more fun than regular shopping. To support this we made a list of significant cars and checked it twice. You can check it out too after the break.
If there is a “one size fits all” gift we can recommend for your favorite Corvette enthusiast, it’s the DVD documentary called “The Quest”. Based on the story of Corvette’s first win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, “The Quest” tells the story of how one man’s dream to find and restore the winning Le Mans race car was cut short and how his son set out to fulfill his dad’s dream of returning the Corvette to Le Mans with its original driver to mark the 50th anniversary of its historic win.
The Corvette community lost a good friend last week. Jeff Hardy, the man who created the simple yet wildly popular Corvette locater service passed away on Wednesday, December 7th after battling an undisclosed illness for some time. For us, his website provided more than just the ability to find specific Corvettes, it provided us with a running narrative of how Corvettes were selling.
Artist David Mills creates this awesome Corvette-themed artwork and while we’re sure it took him hours upon hours to finish, thanks to time lapse video, we can see how it all comes together under six minutes. One of the interesting features is the use of illustrations from our friend K. Scott Teeters at the Illustrated Corvette Series.
