There are a lot of significant Corvettes out there. The first fuelie, the first big block, the first car of any Corvette generation or model year, etc. Many of these cars get locked away in a museum and seldom, if ever, see use on the road. When we stumbled across this video of EX-87, “the Duntov Mule”, which now resides in the Lingenfelter Collection we had to pass it along. Bill McElroy and his 1966 Corvette Sting Ray coupe have been through a lot together over the past 40 years.
Back in 1971, McElroy, then 19 years old, found the car in a newspaper ad, advertised for just $1,600, nearly half what other folks wanted for similar Corvettes back then.

With all the excitement surrounding the up-coming 2014 C7 Corvette, Tadge wanted to take Corvette owners and enthusiasts inside the process. From the halls of GM’s design center to the factory floor in Bowling Green, check out all that goes into revamping an America’s favorite sports car.

We’ve heard about obsessive-compulsive owners who won’t drive their Corvette if there is even a 10 percent chance of rain in the forecast five days from now. We even heard about one guy who parked his ‘Vette underneath a car wash during a storm to wait it out – while on a date with his future wife!
Apparently the dude on this video, however, didn’t get the memo that Corvettes are something to be treasured and taken care of.
Thursday officially kicked off the 2012 NCM Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. The crowds were good and with many different activities to attend, it was tough to cover it all. But we tried and so after the jump, take a look at what went on at the Corvette Museum on Day 1 of the NCM Bash.

Rummerfield is known around the world as the only fully recovered quadriplegic in history, having come back from a 1970’s car wreck that had left him paralyzed from the neck down.
Last Wednesday, the long-time Corvette fan spent a day installing hoods at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Ky.
A legend in the Corvette world for more than 50 years passed away last Tuesday in Newport Beach, Calif.
Andy Porterfield first started racing Corvettes in 1957, and amazingly he was still racing them in 2012 at the age of 80!
