Are you man enough to test drive the awesome Chevrolet Corvette C6 Coupe? That’s the premise behind this clever commercial submitted to the Chevrolet Route 66 Film Contest by Ken Walkes and Jason Lansing. This spot was a regional winner for the Chevy Super Bowl contest, which will air an independent film maker’s commercial during the big game this Sunday. Although it wasn’t the winner of the competition, it remains one of our favorites.

With Chevrolet joining the ranks of advertisers seeking independent filmmaker submissions for a Super Bowl commercial, it’s only fitting that our friends from Michael Brown Productions, creators of “The Quest” documentary, submitted two commercials for the competition. Featuring two Corvettes at opposite ends of the performance spectrum, the commercials made it through Round 1 but were eventually cut from consideration. As the two commercials were done totally with “tongue firmly planted in cheek”, Michael has released them for your viewing pleasure.

In anticipation of this weekend’s Woodward Dream Cruise, Chevrolet has put up a couple of billboards featuring a 1953 Corvette and the 2012 Corvette ZR1 Centennial Edition. What’s really interesting is the location of the billboards: deep in the heart of Ford Country.

So we’ve been wondering how Chevrolet would celebrate the #73 Corvette C6.R’s Victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Well this morning, Chevy tweeted out a link to a new commercial on its youtube channel called “Listen | Corvette Victory at Le Mans” which showcases Corvette Racing’s win at the 24 hour race.

David E. Davis, Jr. passed away this week at the age 80 years old. A former ad man for Chevrolet, he made his mark writing ad copy that told a story instead of focusing on the technical. After leaving Chevrolet, Davis went on to be a writer and later the editor for Car and Driver. He founded Automobile magazine in the mid-1980′s and was the editorial director of Motor Trend in early 2000′s. In 2006 he designed the internet magazine Winding Road and in 2009 was back at Car and Driver as a columnist.

As Corvette is the title sponsor of Sunday Afternoon’s ABC Sport’s broadcast of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, it only makes sense to educate viewers how closely related the production cars are to the ALMS GT racers. To do so, GM showcases the Corvette ZR1 while spokesman Tim Allen tells viewers that when they decided to take 638-horsepower Corvette racing, they had to dial back the power just to be fair to Porsche, Ferrari and BMW. For Corvette’s competition on the track and in the showrooms, sometimes the truth hurts.

Here is a great new :30 second commercial saluting Corvette Racing’s GT victory at last month’s Petit Le Mans. Tim Allen provides the narration and the new ‘Chevy Runs Deep’ slogan makes an appearance at the end.
GM and Corvette Racing presented the theme of cascade engineering for the 2010 racing season, and appropriately so, this factory race car commercial is the perfect bookend to the Still Buiding Rockets commercial featuring the Corvette ZR1.
