Corvette Accidents, Crashes and Wrecks
Nothing breaks our heart more than to see a Corvette that was involved in an accident.
This video is mostly off-topic when it comes to Corvettes (although a Corvette is seen at the beginning). Watching these guys race and you have to wonder if they weren’t all just a little crazy. Other than wearing helmets, safety equipment was pretty much non-existent. No roll bars, no seat belts, no fire-suppression systems. Check it out but be warned, some of these crashes couldn’t have ended well.
This Corvette Z06 crashed into a light pole in Culver City, California the other night. The driver ran from the scene and when police arrived, the Vette was engulfed in flames. Stolen or not, I’m thinking the cops will be able to sort this out quickly. In the meantime, grab your marshmallows and watch this C6 burn.
The driver of this 1998 Corvette was allegedly racing another vehicle (article says Corvette, we heard Mustang) in Long Beach. Apparently a street light turned red and the other car stopped, but the Corvette blew the light at 100 mph, hitting a Toyota Cressida which sheered it in half. Miraculously, no one was seriously injured in the crash. No charges were filed at the scene against the Corvette driver, but police are still investigating.
We think Corvette enthusiasts are some of the greatest people in the world. Unfortunately, we also have our share of morons who think they can do whatever they want. Case in point? A police officer cruising the Lenox Mall in Atlanta saw a C6 Corvette parked in the fire lane. As he pulls behind it, the car’s driver comes out of the mall. The officer attempts to question him and the man jumps in the car, locks the doors and takes off at a high rate of speed.
Ronnie Lee Long of La Mesa Mobile Home Park in Morgantown, West Virginia was arrested and is now being held on $250,000 on charges that he stole a 1975 Corvette. During the theft, Long led authorities on a chase that culminated with the Corvette crashing into a tow truck. The Corvette is owned by Rocky Manchin, brother of US Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.
This poor driver in a Silver C6 Corvette was attempting to drive on I-30 near Buckner Blvd in Dallas but the roads were proving almost too much for the 436-hp rear wheel drive sports car and this traffic-copter caught it all. His frustration rises to the point where he actually gets out of the car and shrugs his shoulders in the near defeat. But the Corvette owner isn’t defeated and soon he is back behind the wheel and slipping and sliding his way to what we hope is a nice warm garage.
This black C5 Corvette was minding its own business when it was struck by a silver car. The silver car was trying to avoid getting on the expressway when it switched lanes suddenly and collided with the black Corvette. The Corvette struck a van and then jumped the curb and hit a palm tree outside the television studios of KIII-TV.
The driver of this C4 Corvette took a cold winter’s dip in a backyard pool after spinning out on a patch of ice. The accident occured in the Chicago suburb of Woodridge. Luckily the Corvette’s driver is okay but his car had to be pulled out of the pool by heavy machinery.
Does the depth of the pool qualify this Corvette for membership in the Polar Bear Club?
This video was taken at the 10th Anniversary Envy Frenzy Car Show in Kingston, NY. Let this serve as a lesson for you. You can’t put out a fuel fire with water. A good chemical-based fire extinguisher might have been able to save this car. That and turning off the ignition. Otherwise, the gas just keeps pouring out and the fire rages on.
