This C4 Corvette belonging to Laverne Nolting of Sunset Hills, MO was crushed in her parents garage when a tornado struck a week ago. The house and car appear to be a total loss. The irony is that Nolting had put the car in the garage to protect it from the weather.
Corvette Accidents, Crashes and Wrecks
Nothing breaks our heart more than to see a Corvette that was involved in an accident.
Check out this dash cam video capturing a C6 Corvette bursting into flames at Road Atlanta. It looks like the Corvette just rounded Turn 7 and was moving very fast down the backstretch when incident occurred.
This yellow 1973 Corvette crashed into the Quality Inn and Suites on Marketview Drive in Champaign, Illinois late Tuesday morning. Police say the 17-year old driver hit a curb, overcorrected his steering and crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic before whacking the side of the hotel. Although the hotel was structurally sound following the accident, the same can’t be said for the C3 Corvette. The driver was issued a ticket for improper lane usage.
I’m not making this up.
This is the headline from www.kitsapsun.com which described how a van in Bremerton, Washington was on its way to the morgue carrying two dead bodies when it lost control and caused a major wreck. In addition to taking out this red C3 Corvette, the van also hit a truck, a tree and a sign before taking out the porches of two houses and coming to rest in the living room of a third house.
Last week, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute released a report on Insurance Loss for vehicles built between 2007-2009. Surprising just about everybody but us, it turns out Corvette owners average the lowest insurance losses.
Most Corvette owners would probably never let a man they met while drinking at a bar drive their Corvette. But if you’re on vacation and the Corvette was a rental, well hey, that’s a different story. I mean, what’s the worse that could happen?
We got a little bit of drama happening to one of our Corvette brothers in the Netherlands. CF Forum Member Twin_Turbo had dropped his C6 Corvette off at the Koenen automotive dealership for the roof recall and then received a call that the car had been involved in an accident. While we’ve heard the story before of service technicians joyriding in customer cars, this Corvette crash was caused by none other than the owner of the dealership himself.
We got a two-fer to go with yesterday’s story of a C6 Corvette crashing into an Emmy-award winning puppeteer’s home. This accident features a black 2007 Corvette driven by 75-year-old Carl Sloan of Morgan Hill, CA. Sloan and 58 year old Teenie Denise were cruising the parking lot of a local Wal-Mart when the car suddenly accelerated and crashed into the front of the store. The cause of the accident may have been due to a medical condition. Both went to the hospital and will be okay. The Corvette? Not so much…
On September 24th, 63-year old Pat Leeper crashed his Arctic White C6 Corvette into the Burbank home of Rene Zendejas. Already devastated by the loss of his pet canary a few days earlier, the 89-year-old Emmy winning puppeteer missed his birthday party due to the crash and now has to look forward to dealing with insurance companies to cover the estimated $60,000 in damages. The crash is believed to be caused by drunk driving with tests pending to determine the blood alchohol content of Leeper’s blood.
For many teen drivers, a Corvette is a dream car that they hope they will one day own. For Kachina Village, Arizona teen Mitchell Mohler Jr, it was a goal made possible by shoveling snow and doing other jobs which raised several thousand dollars. His Dad kicked in the rest and together they purchased a restored 1980 Corvette. That dream of Corvette ownership has since turned into a nightmare when the Corvette was stolen from a car show and crashed on Route 66.
