A red 1999 Corvette coupe suffered an apparent mechanical problem on Saturday morning and wound up in the woods in the Florida Panhandle town of Crestview.
“I love that car,” said a Crestview man who requested his name not be revealed. “It’s something I wish I didn’t have to be seeing.”

We know we’re guilty of sharing the occasional street racing video and its almost like a guilty pleasure of ours to hear those Corvettes revving up and driving hard after three beeps. We know its wrong, like checking out the latest leaked celebrity nude photos. It’s not like we go searching for them. They just seem to find us. But I digress…
Not every street race ends safely and it can be an educational experience to share the what happens when street racing goes bad story. To that end, we bring you this video that shows what can go wrong and how fast that wrong can come if you decide to street race your Corvette.
This street race starts out the same as most others do. Two high powered vehicles pace each other ready to have themselves a little speed contest. What’s different about this situation comes after both drivers mash the gas. The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 immediately breaks traction as the rear wheels spin free.

A C6 Grand Sport Corvette convertible wound up on its top after a crash on the eastbound side of Route 56 in Johnstown, Pa., on Sunday.
The two occupants were trapped inside the car and had to be extricated by members of the Johnstown Fire Department.

This black 2014 Corvette, sitting atop some Forgeline GA3R wheels, was once a great-looking car, but no longer.
It’s now sitting in an insurance company’s holding lot and will be sold through Insurance Auto Auctions.

Looking at the pile of twisted metal and body panels, it’s hard to believe that this was once a 2014 Corvette Stingray. After reviewing the photos from the Insurance Auto Auctions website, this has got to be the worst post-crash Corvette we’ve seen and believe us, we’ve seen a lot of them.

The good news is police found a red 2003 Corvette that was stolen in Moses Lake, Washington last Thursday morning.
The bad news is by that time, the alleged thief had crashed the car through a fence and into the back yard of a house in the 8800 block of Hillcrest Drive in Moses Lake.

The good news about this Corvette garage fire is that no one was injured and firefighters managed to save the rest of the house from going up in flames, too.
The bad news is that the C6 ‘Vette is apparently going to need some serious restoration after being “heavily involved” in the garage fire, according to Senior Captain Charles Martin of the Houston (Texas) Fire Department.
