Here is a Corvette ZR1 for sale on eBay that is worthy of collector car status. This Jetstream Blue Corvette was the first ZR1 produced in the 2010 model year. Wearing VIN #0001, it comes with a 3ZR package and features a Dark Titanium interior and chrome wheels. But here is the kicker: the selling dealer acquired this Corvette directly from General Motors. Although it has just over 3,500 miles, it has never been titled.

Since the introduction of the Corvette ZR1 in 2009, carbon ceramic brakes have been available on production Corvettes. General Motors turned to Brembo to provide the brakes for the top of the line Corvette ZR1 and after the jump, you’ll see how they are made courtesy of the Science Channel.
Here is a comparison video from Japan’s Best Motoring TV show that puts the Lexus LFA against the Nissan GT-R, Corvette ZR1, Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the Ferrari F430 GT3 for a 3-lap attack at Fuji Speedway.
The comparison is epic proof of why we don’t put too much stock into comparisons as this was all about the drivers and their lack of familiarity with any car that wasn’t Japanese. The Corvette driver seemed particularly tentative in the corners and really failed to utilize one of the ZR1′s core strengths: brakes. Despite that minor observation, it’s always fun to see these epic sports cars battling on a track. You have to watch the video to find out how it ends.

One of the major highlights of the Corvette Museum’s C5/C6 Bash is the Corvette Team walking us through the changes and new updates for the upcoming model year. On Saturday morning of the Bash, it was standing room only in the Chevrolet Theater as Corvette Team members Harlan Charles, Tadge Juechter, Craig Sass and Kirk Bennion participated in the “What’s New for 2012″ slide show. Each member of the team took their turn on the microphone to go over their specific area of concentration.
The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires found on the upcoming 2012 Corvette Z06 and ZR1′s represent the pinnacle of performance for tires on a Corvette and they are another example of the technology transfer from the racing team to the production sports car. This video from GM was part of the 2012 Corvette data dump which came out last Thursday while we were in route to the Corvette Museum. As an added twist to the introduction of the new tire for Corvette, team members at the C5/C6 Bash stated that another run of the Nurburgring may be in order.
During the Corvette Team’s presentation at the National Corvette Museum’s C5/C6 Bash, Product Manager Harlan Charles discussed the production statistics of the 2011 Corvette. As of April 26th, there have been 12,185 Corvettes produced with the Grand Sport accounting for 59% of production. Additionally, most buyers of the Coupe, Convertible and Grand Sports are opting for the 3LT package.

Good things come to those who wait and about fifteen minutes following the close of the National Corvette Museum, these production 2012 Z06 Corvettes were found parked in the front lot. Each features the new lighweight aluminum cup wheels in both black and Machined Face. The Supersonic Blue Z06 with the Black wheels are sporting the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.
Although most of the new updates to the 2012 Corvette were released last week somewhat prematurely and covered here on CorvetteBlogger.com, Chevy made it official today with an official press release detailing the new equipment and options that will be available with next year’s Corvette.
Texas tuner Hennessey Performance Engineering is known for their performance packages that substantially increase the power of GM and other American-built cars and trucks. Right after the initial introduction of the Corvette ZR1, HPE came out with their ZR700 package which boosted the ZR1′s horsepower to 705. Hennessey also offers the ZR750 package which brings the power on tap to 755-ponies, a ground-pounding 728 pounds-feet of torque and a top speed in excess of 224 mph!
