Mecum’s auction of 230 cars from the Rogers Classic Car Museum in Las Vegas is giving car collectors an opportunity that doesn’t come along too often—the opportunity to bid on a variety of American cars all being offered at no reserve. This is particularly interesting to Corvette enthusiasts as one of the no-reserve cars is a Sportsman Red 1954 Corvette. Auctions offering C1 Corvettes at no reserve come along about once in a blue moon.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 25, 2015) – Corvette Racing returned to Victory Lane for the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Sunday, scoring a hard-earned GT Le Mans class victory in the opening race of the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. To paraphrase an old ad slogan, when Bob Lutz talks (or writes), people listen.
In a blog for Road & Track released yesterday, the veteran auto executive gives some insider background on the mid-engine Corvette that looks like it might finally become a reality after all these decades of teasing.
Lutz says the company has been thinking about a mid-engine Corvette for more than a decade, and he believes the stars may be lined up now for such a car.
Could this be a sneak preview of the C8 Corvette or just another tease of a long-rumored mid-engine car from Chevy?
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
What we do know for sure, though, is that Chevrolet will be unveiling its Corvette Vision GT Concept on Nov. 19 as the newest member of the highly popular Gran Turismo PlayStation game.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray has already been acclaimed around the world for its beautiful and trend-setting design.
Now three General Motors car designers are going to take it a step further, helping the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) Gala Fundraiser today.
The three GM Design employees – Casey Swanseger, 30; Tyler Mars, 28; and Haneif Katebi, 25 – will be using paint and brush on a 2014 Stingray, bringing to life Detroit’s “creative corridor” made up of industries that merge art, technology, and business.
Chevrolet officially revealed the performance statistics for the 2015 Corvette Z06 this afternoon and the numbers should put a lot of smiles out there in the Corvette Nation. The new C7 super car is the fastest production Corvette ever built and one of the few sports cars on the market that’s a member of the 10-second quarter mile club right out of the box.
Despite the world-class reviews of the C7′s Corvette Stingray and the coming main attraction, the 650 horsepower 2015 Corvette Z06, you would think we would be content to focus on the most advanced Corvettes ever produced. But as always, there are rumors afoot about a next generation Corvette and the main question on everybody’s minds is will Chevy finally bring a mid-engined Corvette to market.
Even though the C7 Corvette Z06 has yet to start production, it’s never too early to start speculating on the next generation Corvette, the C8. After last month’s rumors of a mid-engine super-Corvette dubbed either the Zora or ZR1 from Motor Trend, Car and Driver follows up with their preview of the next King of the Hill Corvette in their October 2014 issue.
Chevrolet and the National Corvette Museum have announced their game plan for restoration of three of the classic Corvettes damaged when they were swallowed by a sinkhole inside the museum in February.
Two of the cars – the 2009 Corvette ZR1 prototype nicknamed the “Blue Devil” and the 1-millionth Corvette produced (a 1992 white convertible) – will be repaired by Chevrolet, which will also pay for the restoration of the black 1962 Corvette to be overseen by the museum.
When the 8-speed automatic was first announced for the 2015 Corvette Stingray, most of us saw the main benefit would be an increase in fuel economy and that has come true as the new paddle-shift auto gets an EPA-estimated 29 MPG on the highway But the new automatic is also faster than than the previous 6-speed with a 0-60 mph time at 3.7 seconds.
