Corvettes at Carlisle, the world’s largest Corvette-only event, is only days away! Corvette America will be there all weekend, August 23-25, with a huge selection of Corvette products and a full compliment of staff to assist you. Plus, our expert seat cover installer and production supervisor will be on hand to answer questions on materials, patterns, assembly and installation. We welcome you to visit us at either of our two locations — on J Row and on the Manufacturer’s Midway.
For many enthusiasts, the placement of the engine is one of the defining characterists on whether or not a sports car has achieved “super car status”. The Mid Engine/Rear Engine debate surrounding Corvettes has been going on now for some 30+ years and with every new announcement surrounding a next generation Vette, we seem to have this debate all over again.
But one ingenious C4 Corvette owner decided to skip that debate and have it both ways by installing a mock 350 V8 in the rear cargo area of a 1985 yellow Coup [sic]. If you love this idea, then the good news is that this Corvette can be yours as it’s now listed for sale on Craigslist.
Each year the team at Carlisle Events gathers some of the best and most unique Corvettes around to include in the annual rite of summer known as Corvettes at Carlisle. For 2013 they’ve already announced that the George Barris built Asteroid Corvette will be reintroduced there after a complete restoration. Now they’re looking for some more modified Corvettes for this year’s show – 4×4 Corvettes. Yes, you read that correctly.
My 13-year-old son loves Corvettes and four-wheel drive trucks. This Craigslist find is definitely right up his alley, but will someone who actually has a driver’s license feel the same love, enough to pay “a firm” $2,500 for this 1978 C3 that’s been raised off the ground and turned into a four-wheel driver.
For the guy that wants the great looks and curves that late C3 Corvettes are known for, but still wants to maintain that “I can go anywhere” mentality that a four-wheel drive vehicle offers no matter what the road conditions are, I present to you this 1980 Corvette 4×4 that was recently spotted for sale on Craigslist.
When you think about Corvettes, going muddin’ is usually not the first thing that pops into your mind.
But a couple of guys named Dan Linden and Tom Hahn are quickly putting a halt to that kind of thinking.
They’ve constructed the Mud Slinger, a 4×4 atop a gigantic set of tires and sporting the look of a 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe.
We dropped the rumor last week that Guy Fieri is in contention to be the pace car driver at this year’s Indianapolis 500 and today we learned that its official. The celebrity chef and Corvette owner will be driving the 2013 Corvette ZR1 to start the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 27th.
You’ll be thinking about this Corvette all day and wondering why…
The premise behind SPEED’s CAR WARRIORS is pretty simple. Give two teams identical cars and 72 hours to turn it into a custom ride. At the end of each show, a panel of celebrity judges evaluates the cars and selects the winner. The latest show airs this Wednesday at 9pm EST and surprise, the two teams are each given a 1976 Corvette to work their magic on.
