1953 Corvette #254 Headed to Classic Car Auction at the National Corvette Museum

With only 300 Corvettes made in the first year of production in 1953, not many of these historic treasures ever cross the auction block in a single year.

But this weekend could be your chance to own one as the 254th Corvette ever made will be up for auction at the first-ever Hartland Auctions sale at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky.

The car was handmade in Flint, Mich., on Nov. 25, 1953 and is Bloomington Silver certified (94 percent). It also received the National Corvette Homecoming Sapphire Award in 2007 and has been in private collections for many years with good documentation.

The car is billed as “the real deal” and is a “survivor,” not an overdone restoration, according to the Hartland Auction website.

More from the website: “Car has exceptional chrome & interior, detailed engine compartment, original side curtains with correct date plexiglas, correct trunk mat, correct jack and jack bar, and correct carburetor tags. All instrumentation, speedometer, tach, radio, speakers, clock, windshield & washers & cigarette lighter in working order with correct parts. Car has never been wrecked or sanded. Frame is solid & in great condition. All matching numbers with the exception of the block (1954). 53 block is included with car.”
