Corvettes for Sale: 1968 Corvette B-Production Race Car

You’ve got until Monday, June 4 at 5 p.m. to place your bid on a B Production 1968 Corvette that’s been raced in SCCA events since the early 1980s.

As of Tuesday morning, three bids had been placed, the highest being just $11,000.

That’s a far cry from the $54,000 in documented improvements that have been made to the car in recent months, including a new 490hp/500 lb-ft torque Chevy crate engine connected to a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission. Built at a cost of $12,541.19, the engine includes a new carburetor, distributor, GM racing plug wires, baffled racing oil pan with fences and seven doors, aluminum cylinder heads, roller rockers, a 10.5-lb nodular flywheel, and steel valve covers with a breather kit.

The current owner bought the car from Jim Glass Corvettes in 2017, then shipped the car to California for Bob and Nick Slade (of Nick Carpenter’s Indy car team) to prepare and recondition it for the track. Since being completed, the Corvette has already competed at an HMSA vintage event.

The car – which has a removable hardtop – is painted white with red stripes and features several vintage-style sponsor decals and side exhaust. Fixed headlights, a pair of Cibie driving lights, and flared fenders help complete the look. Included also are two sets of wheels – western alloys with Dunlop Qualifier tires and another set inside Goodyear Bluestreak Vintage tires.

Inside the cockpit are an SCCA-approved roll cage, a bucket seat with a new five-point harness and a cool shirt system for the driver, and a stock passenger seat with lap belt. It has Duntov power steering and a custom dash with Stewart Warner gauges and switch panel.

The car remains street legal (with a clean California title) but is also eligible to compete in SVRA, SCCA, VARA, and HMSA Club racing. It includes a current SCCA logbook and a clean California title.

The seller points out that the restoration kept the wheels, seats, dash, and new 22-gallon ATL fuel cell but he replaced virtually everything else, including the suspension, brakes, and other chassis components.
