Corvette Engine Build Experience Returns in January

As the reborn Bowling Green Assembly Plant comes back online, so do some of the perks that come purchasing one of the cars built there. The National Corvette Museum announced in late November that the PBC Engine Build Experience will resume in January. Beginning then, prospective Corvette owners will be able to once again assemble the LT4 power plant for their ZO6 Corvette. The other big news was that beginning in February owners will also be able to assemble the ZR1’s new 750hp LT5.

Ordering for the Z06 began on November 30th and ordering for the ZR1 begins on January 25th. Once relaunched, the Engine Build Experience includes the engine assembly, but not the plant tour. We do expect the plant tours to come back online sometime later in 2018.

Once an owner selects RPO PBC the National Corvette Museum acts as a concierge and follows up on the scheduling for the engine build. They also handle all of the logistics on the day of the build. The Engine Build Experience includes a full day with a Performance Build Center engine assembly technician, a personalized engine plaque and poster identifying who built the engine, professional photography, a piston trophy with the customer’s name and date, a Build Your Own Engine Polo short, and a Z06 or ZR1 hat.

A typical Engine Build experience day looks like this:

  • 5:45 AM – Arrive at NCM. Greeted by host
  • 5:45 AM – 6:00 AM – Continental Breakfast
  • 6:00 AM – Safety Presentation / Pre-Build Pictures
  • 6:30 AM – Build Begins
  • 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM – Lunch
  • 11:45 AM – 1:30 PM – Complete Engine Build
  • 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM – Cold Test Engine
  • 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM – Completion Ceremony
  • 3:00 PM – Departure

Once the engine is done it moves over to vehicle assembly where it waits to be installed in a brand new Z06 or ZR1. Once the complete car is assembled customers can select the R8C Corvette Museum Delivery to complete the birth process of their new Corvette.

The PBC Engine Build Experience is available to Z06 and ZR1 customers and costs $5,000 which doesn’t include your transportation to and lodging while in Bowling Green.
