Brembo Brakes Honored as a GM Supplier of the Year for 2016

It will come as no surprise to Corvette enthusiasts that Brembo has once again been named a GM Supplier of the Year.

Brembo, of course, provides the outstanding carbon ceramic braking system on the Chevrolet Corvette Z07 and Grand Sport, as well as the calipers and cast iron rotors on the remaining Corvette line.

The award, the second time Brembo has been honored by GM, came during its 25th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony on March 31 in Orlando, Florida.

A global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics executives selected the winning suppliers based on performance criteria in Product Purchasing, Indirect Purchasing, Customer Care and Aftersales, and Logistics.

“It is a credit to the Brembo worldwide team to receive the GM Supplier of the Year award for a second consecutive year,” said Dan Sandberg, president and chief executive officer, Brembo North America. “Brembo’s highly engineered and innovative brakes help to control and stop Corvette, Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac as well as trucks and SUVs. To receive this prestigious award reinforces Brembo’s position as a key supplier to General Motors and we look forward to continuing to design and engineer the best brakes for General Motors vehicles.”

Brembo was one of the 118 best suppliers from 15 countries that have consistently exceeded GM’s expectations, created outstanding value or brought new innovations to the company. That’s the most suppliers GM has honored since beginning the recognition program in 1992.

“We have the privilege to work with and recognize the industry’s most capable suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Through their valued partnership, we will continue to deliver the products, services and experiences our customers deserve.”

It’s a great time for Corvette enthusiasts to enjoy the Brembo ceramic braking system, by the way, as Chevrolet is now offering $5,000 Bonus Purchase Cash on any Grand Sport or Z06 equipped with the Z07’s Ceramic Brakes as well as Z06s with just the J57 Brake option. But you need to hurry as you must take delivery by May 1, 2017.
