Ten Years Ago: GM Launches 2007 Ron Fellows Corvette Z06

If you one of these unique special edition Corvettes, it’s time to celebrate!

Ten years ago on February 1st, 2007 at the Chicago Auto Show, GM showed off the new 2007 Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Championship Corvette Z06. It was the second time that Corvette had named a special edition after a person (1986 Malcolm Konner Edition was the first) but it was the first “signature edition” Corvette ever offered.

Unique at the time, the special edition was offered in Arctic White, the first time the color was offered on the Z06.

It also featured a Canadian Maple Leaf motif (a nod to Ron’s Canadian heritage) that was embedded in the special Monterey Red hash marks that appeared on the front fenders.

The Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Championship Corvette Z06 was limited to 399 cars. 300 would stay in the United States, 33 would go to Canada and remaining 66 were offered to other export markets.

Ron hand signed and numbered the underside of each center armrest door. Original owners also received the Original GM Ron Fellows Limited Edition Letter of Authenticity from General Motors verifying the unique provenance of this special edition.

Later in the year, Corvette Racing would celebrate the Special Edition by fielding a 3rd Corvette C6.R driven by Ron Fellows and Andy Pilgrim during the ALMS stop at Mosport, now known at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park:

The model remains one the most popular special editions during the C6 generation and is popular with collectors and enthusiasts alike.

  1. I have #24 which the first owner sent off to Lingenfelter for a little upgrade (630hp) in 2007. Almost looks stock, with the exception of the Lingenfelter logo under the Z06 emblem, and the coil covers say Lingenfelter. If you’re not able to find another for the book, and are able to set me up with a photographer, I’m up for it. Located in WA.
