Corvettes on eBay: These C6 Corvette ZR1s are Becoming Ridiculously Affordable

The concept of the C6 Corvette ZR1 began essentially as a challenge thrown down to the Corvette design and engineering team which asked the question, “How much performance can we get out of a $100,000 Corvette?”

Turns out, it was quite a lot with the car coming in at 638 horsepower and a top speed over 200 mph!

The performance specs for the C6 Corvette ZR1 were spectacular for the time. The King of the Hill could do a 0-60 mph sprint in 3.4 seconds and 0-100 mph in 7.0 seconds flat. The ZR1’s quarter mile time was 11.3 at 131 mph and let’s not forget the ZR1’s top speed was 205 mph!

When Chevrolet started selling the 638-hp 2009 Corvette ZR1 in 2008, the suggested manufacturers price for the car was set for $103,300 for the base model (a $1,700 gas guzzler tax put the real MSRP at $105,000). Most buyers also added the $10,000 3ZR equipment upgrade and the $2,000 chrome wheel options which put a loaded 2009 Corvette ZR1 around $118,000.

Customers loved the Corvette ZR1 and Chevrolet sold 1,415 units during the first year of production and over 1,500 in its second year. The company would go on to sell a total 4,684 C6 Corvette ZR1s through the 2013 model year.

But then the C7 Corvette dropped and once customers could buy a Z06 with its 650 horsepower and 650 lbs-ft torque and a much lower starting MRSP than the previous ZR1, and well you can guess what that has done to the market of C6 Corvettes for sale.

And that brings us to today’s eBay Motors Find which is a Torch Red 2009 Corvette ZR1.

The one-owner Corvette ZR1 was built in the first half of production and carries a VIN Sequence number of 513. The owner obviously cared for the car as the mileage on the car is low with just 29,000 on the odometer.

Options on this Corvette ZR1 aren’t listed but we do see the $2,000 chrome wheels on the car. The doors feature the regrettable Lambo mod while inside the car has the two-tone red/black seats.

Now here’s the crazy part. This 2009 Corvette ZR1 is listed with a “Buy it Now” price of $55,000! That’s a whopping 53% off the original MSRP of $118,000!

The Corvette ZR1s are sure to be future collectibles. The fact that you can get into a one-owner pre-owned car for over half off the original price is incredible.

And now that Chevrolet will potentially bring the ZR1 nameplate to the C7 Corvette in 2018, I doubt this will be the last fire sale on C6 ZR1s as owners dump and run to get a Corvette with wings.
