[ACCIDENT] Pickup Truck Lands on top of a Corvette in California


We certainly hope the driver of this Torch Red C7 Corvette coupe is okay after a pickup truck lands on top of the Stingray on Thursday.

He had to be extricated from the Corvette after the rush hour crash on the southbound 55 Freeway near the 22nd Street on-ramp in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Costa Mesa Fire Department officials said the driver had to be carried to a local trauma center but could give no word on his condition.

Photos from above the scene reveal just how badly damaged the Corvette was. The truck appears to have landed on the driver’s side of the car, causing us great concern about his injuries.

Details are not available on the cause of the crash. Traffic was backed up for around two hours before the wreckage was cleared.

  1. the truck probably didnt see the vette. i have the same problem with my, ” velocity yellow” Z06. i believe that color should be discontinued since half the cars coming at me use my lane and so many people pull out in front of me. just last month a picup did just that. i was doing 57 in a 55 and he pulled out less than 10 car lenghs in front of me. i literally stopped less than a foot from his vehicle. not only did he pull out in front of me but STOPPED across both lanes.
    i really want to thank corvette racing, gm, corvette manufacturing plant and brembo because in any other vehicle i would not have made that stop. i pushed on the brakes and my Z06 stopped and didnt slip or slide or anything. corvette Z06 IS the best sports car. my life dependid on it, thank you.
    that driver did that on purpose to, i dont believe otherwise. he would not have stopped across both lanes of traffic. there was no reason to stop like that.
    i really hope the driver of that C7 red vette lived??
    i am finding since my first purchase of my C6 Z51 and now my Z06 that some people just do really stupid things around me. i never had this kind of stupidity against any other vehicle i have owened. i an not imagining it at all. i dont know what it is but people just cant stand that i have this car and not just talk bad about it to me but have called the cops on me several times and spread rummers of me speeding and me being careless and dangerous. i do not know why people cant mind their own business. the state troopers and town cops have both exhonerated me by watching me and other means and tell me they actually are watching the people who keep turning me in for not doing the things they say im doing. i only race or spin tires at the track and not much tire spinning unless im due for another set, i had to borrow money for my last set.
    again, i pray that the driver is ok and thankyou for everyone who desinred, tested and race corvettes so americas sports car is a safe vehicle.
