South Florida Man Found Shot to Death in his C5 Corvette at a McDonalds

A 48-year-old Coral Springs, Fla., man was found dead, apparently from a gunshot wound, Monday morning in his black C5 Corvette, discovered in a McDonald’s parking lot in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Police say witnesses at the restaurant heard a gunshot around 4:30 a.m. Monday and then saw a white four-door sedan speed away from the scene.

The victim, Alex Eichmann, had told his older brother, Eric Eichmann, that he was leaving a craps game at the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach at 3:11 a.m.

“He told me he had just about broken even,” Eric Eichmann, 51, said. “I regret that I wasn’t there last night to help him with whatever happened.”

The brothers frequently stopped by the McDonald’s after leaving the casino because it was open late.

Eric described his brother as “one of the nicest guys” who “would get along with anybody” and had no enemies, “none in the world that I am aware of.”

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue carried the victim to nearby Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach, where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective John Curcio at 954-321-4212. Anonymous tips are also accepted at Broward County Crime Stoppers by calling 954-493-8477 or by visiting www.browardcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.

“If anyone spoke to him, or saw his car, any help they can provide to the Broward Sheriff’s Office would be much appreciated, so we can find out who did this and why,” Eric Eichmann said.

An autopsy will be conducted today by the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office.

In the meantime, Eric Eichmann and his family are left wondering why someone would kill their loved one.

“My brother was one of the most caring people I have ever known,” Eric Eichmann said. “He never wanted to offend anybody or upset anybody. He went out of the way to smooth things over, have everyone be fine.”
