Two passengers in a red C6 Corvette escaped serious injury Monday after their speeding car flipped over on a North Carolina road.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that the Corvette ended up on its top in a ditch after a collision with a black car on Stoney Point Road in Fayetteville, N.C. about 5 p.m.

Fayetteville Polilce Sgt. Richard Mulcahy said witnesses reported that the Corvette was speeding behind a line of cars on Stoney Point Road when the driver tried to go around them. In the process, the Corvette, estimated to be traveling 75 to 80 mph, struck a black car in line and caused it to spin into the other lane, badly damaging that vehicle.

The Corvette then hit a telephone pole and spun around for 250 feet before flipping over into a ditch, ejecting the two passengers in the Chevy.

Miraculously, they suffered only minor injuries and were taken by ambulance for treatment after being found near their car.

No one else was injured in the crash, which happened near Strickland Bridge Road and Stoney Point Road, closing the road for about an hour while crews cleaned up the debris.
