[ACCIDENT] Corvette Smashes into Rear of a Semi Trailer

The driver of a black C5 Corvette convertible had to be extricated from his vehicle and transported to a hospital Thursday afternoon after his car smashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer.

The accident shut down the southbound side of Route 128 in Beverly, Mass., for about 30 minutes.

Police and firefighters answered the call about 4:30 p.m.

Another vehicle, a white Honda Accord belonging to a local driving school, was also involved in the crash, but it suffered only minor damage. However, the driver of that car was also taken to the hospital, according to state police trooper Patrick McCrave.

By the time The Salem News arrived at the scene, the tractor-trailer and its driver were no longer there, but police said the vehicle suffered only minor damage.

The Corvette wasn’t so lucky, though, as its front end was badly damaged from the impact.

The crash occurred at the off-ramp to Exit 20B in Beverly, at Route 1A.
