Corvette Racing to Skip the FIA WEC 6-Hour Race at COTA

We were pretty excited last year when Corvette Racing signed up their third C7.R chassis for duty in the FIA World Endurance Challenge Race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. The all-American driver roster included Tommy Milner and the two Taylor brothers and was referred to as “Team America”.

But according to a report by Sportscar365, Corvette Racing will not be entering a Corvette C7.R as a wildcard in this year’s FIA WEC race which takes place September 19th.

Since last year’s race at COTA which saw the “Team America” C7.R finish 7th in class, Corvette Racing sold their third C7.R chassis to the French racing squad Labre Competition. So with only two C7.Rs available which are set up for the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship race that takes place the same weekend, Corvette Racing will be sitting out the WEC 6-hour at COTA.

The good news is that Corvette will still be represented in the FIA’s Six Hours of the Circuit of the Americas race as Labre Competition will be running their Corvette C7.R in GTE-Am.

Corvette Racing and the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship will be at COTA for the Lone Star Le Mans for the 2 hour 40 minute race which takes place on Saturday, September 19th at 12:30 PM local time.
