[STOLEN] 1967 Corvette Stolen 42 Years Ago is Returned to its Original Owner

Some things even Alzheimer’s can’t rob from a man.

Paul Jones of Hurst, Texas had saved up his money while in school to buy a 1967 Corvette Sting Ray.

Unfortunately, five years later, on Aug. 12, 1973, his Corvette was stolen from in front of the apartment where he and his wife Pamela lived in Fort Worth.

After so much time had passed, the couple never expected to see the car again.

Until that recent day when the Ohio Highway Patrol called Pamela and gave her the good news.

“He said, ‘We have your car.’ And I asked him, ‘What piece of my car?’ and he said, ‘The whole thing,'” Pamela says.

Police discovered the car had a fake VIN and somehow were able to track the Joneses down to return their vehicle.

The car arrived in Hurst on May 1, and a smiling Jones, though now afflicted with Alzheimer’s, fondly remembered his youthful days behind the wheel – though he did notice how thin that steering wheel seems compared to today’s cars.

“It’s beautiful,” he said of the car, “and she is really pretty,” pointing to his wife.

The couple is having the car restored at Mid-Cities Classics, and Pamela says she’ll be driving her husband around in the Corvette as much as he wants once the work is done.

One change, though: “It will be kept in the garage with an alarm,” she said.
