The FIA’s World Endurance Championship kicks off the 2015 season this weekend at the Silverstone Circuit in England and a Corvette C7.R campaigned by Larbre Competition will be making its debut in the GTE-AM class.

The C7.R chassis was most recently raced by Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Ryan Briscoe at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2015 where it won its class before it was sold to Larbre. Larbre Competiton is no stranger to racing Corvettes as they previously ran the C6.Rs in the series, which include a win in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

After the C7.R was acquired by team owner Jack Leconte, Larbre Competition’s crew and drivers had a joint shakedown session with Corvette Racing’s two C7.Rs at Sebring in February. Driving the Corvette for the French team will be former 8 Star Ferrari drivers Paolo Ruberti and Gianluca Roda. They are joined with reigning GTE-AM Champion (& former Aston Martin Racing driver) Kristian Poulsen.

“Four years ago our partnership with Corvette Racing began with the C6.R at Sebring,” said team owner Jack Leconte. “Over the years, we have nurtured our relationship with the US manufacturer and achieved tremendous results together. For that reason we were really excited to trial the new C7.R on track. The car has great potential, as has already been proven after its class win at this year’s Daytona 24 Hours in late-January. The engineers and mechanics massively benefited from their trip to Detroit, once they’d acclimatized to the difference in temperature between Florida and France!”

The Six Hours of Silverstone will be shown live on FOX Sports 1 from Green Flag to Checkers beginning at 7 am ET on Sunday morning. The race will conclude at 1 pm ET.

Following the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in England, the series moves to Spa in Belgium before taking on the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Following Le Mans are stops at the Nurburgring and then off to Texas at Circuit of the Americas before crossing the Pacific with stops in Japan and Shanghai, China. The series will conclude with the Grand Finale in Bahrain.

Our friends at Corvette Motorsport will be following all the action so we suggest you follow @Corvettems on Twitter for the lastest race updates.
