March 2015 Corvette Sales

General Motors posted the monthly sales figures for March 2015 this week and we have great news for Corvette fans. The C7 Corvette – buoyed by sales of the 2015 Corvette Z06 – had its second best month ever and the highest sales totals since the very first month the C7 Corvette Stingray became available in October 2013.

For the month of March 2015, GM delivered 3,785 Corvettes which was an 8.8% gain over the 3,480 Corvettes sold during the same time period in 2014. Year to date (January-March 2015), a total of 8,517 Corvettes have been sold which is a 4.1% increase over the 8,179 Corvettes delivered during the same time in 2014.

A month earlier, GM reported 2,605 Corvettes have been delivered (February 2015). So March 2015’s sales increased a total 1,180 Corvettes or 45.3% over the previous month!

So why the healthy increase in sales during March? Corvette owners have waited a long time to get the high-performance Corvette with the auto transmission and Chevrolet finally started delivery of the Corvette Z06 with an 8-Speed automatic in March. Like the previous new model rollouts, GM built up an inventory of Corvette Z06s with the 8-Speed autos while they were doing their final quality checks and those Corvettes were finally released to be shipped to their respective dealers for customer delivery.

Another way to look at the sales figures is on a daily basis. The March 2015 Sales period was 26 days long. If you took the March total of 3,785 Corvettes, that means that 146 Corvettes were delivered to their new owners each day during the sales period.

And one final note about March’s sales totals. We’ve been keeping track of the monthly sales numbers since 2006 and March 2015 was the best month ever during that 10 year period.
