Better late than never.

Europeans finally got their first close-up look at the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 at the Geneva Motor Show, which opened to thousands of media members Tuesday.

Of course, many Americans have already seen the Corvette not only at shows like the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where it debuted in January 2014, but also screaming down the road with happy owners behind the wheel.

But in Geneva, the Z06 is a new star, in fact one of some 90 sleek never-before-seen machines making their premieres in Geneva. In all, about 900 cars will be on display through March 15.

The debut at Geneva is great timing for the Z06, which will go on sale in Europe this spring, but they shouldn’t be expecting a bargain. The European version will start out at 99,500 EUR for the coupe and 104,500 EUR for the convertible. That compares to 78,995 in American dollars for the coupe and $83,995 for the convertible.

The Europeans will be getting a lot of car for their Euros, with the new Z06 packing a 650 hp engine under the hood capable of making 650 ft-lbs of torque.

Chevrolet says it will also offer our friends across the ocean a Performance Package for another 16,500 EUR, featuring Brembo ceramic brakes, adjustable front and rear aerodynamic elements, and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

No doubt the Z06 will look pretty awesome with that beautiful European scenery behind it.
